Nosy Beauty Vol. 4: Gia

For Nosy Beauty Vol. 4, we have Gia! She is currently a grad student at the journalism school in Ateneo and a full-time news writer for ANC (among several side-gigs) and my Internet friend. I don’t really even remember how we became friends, but when the makeup talk happened, it just became one big giant flailing party. “My favorite makeup product is matte red lipstick, hands down.” Let’s take a look at what’s in her bag! Here’s my “everyday” kit! I say “everyday” loosely; I really only wear a decently full face of makeup 3-4 afternoons a week including weekends. BASE: Vichy Aera Mineral BB Cream in Natural, Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 52 Vanilla, MAC Studio Fix powder foundation in NC40, CVS Advanced Healing ointment “The CVS ointment is basically heavy-duty moisturizer, for my lips and dry skin patches. On hot days in Manila, I also like to use Revlon Photoready Perfecting primer instead of the BB cream, because it’s great at making your foundation sweat-proof. I use Studio Fix to set.” CONCEALER: YSL …

Nosy Beauty Vol. 3: Isa

For this installment of Nosy Beauty, I’ve asked the co-founder of The Better Story Project to share her makeup bay’s contents with me. Isa is a teacher, a lover of words, and she’s also my best friend! We’ve known each other since the second grade, but it was not fraaandship at first sight. Now, we get along swimmingly. “Let me be honest: I don’t know much about makeup. But the rule of thumb that I try to follow is: keep it simple and keep it real. If the discrepancy between your real face and your made up face is too great, maybe you’re doing it wrong. Personally, I use makeup to enhance my better features and hide what I feel self-conscious about.” “The current makeup bag I use is messy (!), sorry. It’s an aztec print bag from Forever 21 that I got on sale. :)” When I asked her to participate in Nosy Beauty, Isa divided her products by brand and then by function for the friendless single products from random brands. She started …

Nosy Beauty Vol. 2: Mona

So, here’s my second installment of Nosy Beauty, featuring my mama, Mona! This series is basically just me poking around other people’s things, specifically their makeup bags. You can read the first post, on my sister here. My mom’s name is Mona Lisa. Incidentally, she is a full-time artist, but she manages an art gallery with my dad, who is also an artist. She likes going on her Facebook, getting good deals on stuff, dogs and babies. She is also very generous and likes being helpful, though like me, she has a short fuse, haha. Also like me, she is a middle child. My mom is the kind of lady who is annoyingly pretty, especially given her age. I won’t disclose it, but her oldest kid, my brother, is in his late twenties. Her beauty philosophy strikes me as somewhat utilitarian. She likes finding products that work for her, instead of trying new things all the time, which is what I tend to do. My sister’s more like her, in that aspect. I am very …

Nosy Beauty Vol. 1: Isabel

Funny story, I’d been working on this new series where I kind of poke around other people’s makeup bags for a while now, when I see this post by Romila Marie of Run Barbie Run, where she posts about her sister’s makeup bag. Take a look at her sister’s picks! For my own edition/version, which I am calling Nosy Beauty, I asked my sister, Isabel, to indulge me and she did! Here’s the stuff I’ve dug up. Isabel is about a year and a half younger than I am and we’ve shared a room ever since I could remember. She also likes drawing and art, but she took up European Studies with a minor in German Studies and Marketing at University. She blogs over here. Isabel, or Beng, grew up with bad breakouts and really severe asthma, which caused her undereye area to get really dark. She actually wore makeup regularly earlier than I did, but really focused on perfecting her base. She uses the shu uemura Nobara Cream Cover Stick and the shu uemura …
