March 2013 Favorites

Hello everyone! This is a bit early, because I really, really wanted to have my favorites up before I left for Japan! 🙂 Here are a couple of favorites from this month, and I tried to add a couple of non-beauty things in there, too. For nobody’s benefit. Anyway, here we go! Beauty Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette ($50, 20% off) How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I remember my friend Zaxx selling me one of her extra Naked 2 Palettes (she got them for Christmas, I think), and I said I wasn’t interested because The Internet said they were for cool-toned folk. My lesson in all of this is: Screw the rules! I don’t think I’m cool-toned, and I love this more than the “warmer” Naked Palette. I seriously love every single color in this palette. I’m so tempted to take it with me to Japan, but some of the pans are reportedly a bit loose. I’m sure I can survive a week without this palette. I’m sure of it. …

February Favorites

YAY, I actually had this up on time! Also, on video, too. Ooooh, fancy. Anyway, here are some products that I’ve been loving the past month. February was the month of the ghosts of parcels past. Everything that I ordered on impulse in January came to Nickelback* me. So, I didn’t get to do try some of the products quite as extensively as I used these ones that I’ve picked out. Here are my February favorites! All are mentioned in the video, but I thought I would do a little bit of talking about each product some more in text and picture form~ 1. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (Collection Reviewed & Swatched) Holy cow, these blushes are amazing. I was on the fence about purchasing them, since they are a bit on the pricey side (Php 1,200 each, from the retailer I got) and the only way I could pick any up was if I ordered online, without seeing how the colors would look on me or how the texture was. I first got …

January Favorites

I’ve been in quite the beauty rut lately, despite the seemingly endless supply of new makeup products in the mail. New makeup products that I bought with my money… so it’s definitely not an endless supply. It just seems like it is because they’re coming all at once! Since I was in a beauty rut, this is going to be a short list this month, I think. I also did not go out all that much in January (hermit alert), so I’m really at some sort of loss, I suppose. Nevertheless, here are my January Favorites! There are some great products that I was able to try and use late into the month. 1. Le Métier de Beauté Sheer Brilliance Lip Gloss in Bondi Beach (Review — $32; Nordstrom) I would say that the biggest “beauty rut” I was in last month concerned lip products! I didn’t know what to use. I got so tired of “dark, berry lips,” and it never felt quite right. I would finish a look and then add a lip …

December Favorites

I’ve got a few favorites from December! I don’t know how that happened since I was in the middle of a makeup ban… Funny how things happen. Ahem, in any case, here’s twelve products—two lip, five eye, 1 set of tools, 2 face products, and 3 skin care products. Phew. I hope you enjoy this roundup! 1. Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait in Orgueil (Review) I purchased this on the last day of November, and loved it from the get-go, but I wasn’t able to include it in my November Favorites. The Rouge G L’Extraits are incredibly smooth, creamy and pigmented. A little lasts a long while, which is great considering the price point. I’d gotten two more shades (sale!) after Orgueil, but this remains my favorite. 2. Revlon ColorStay Ultimate in Premier Plum (Review) An excellent drugstore find! Formula is great, though a bit tacky on the finish. The color is my favorite part, as it’s a beautiful medium pinky color that leans heavily towards plum. 3. Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes (Review) I …

November Favorites

I didn’t want to go overboard so I tried to keep it under 10—here are my favorites for this month! ❤ For lip products, I have three favorites this month, all of which offer a good range in terms of price. First up is a lipstick from the shu uemura x Karl Lagerfeld collaboration—a Rouge Unlimited shade called Celebrity Beige. Here it is used as a FOTD. I love that it’s a light coral, almost-nude color with just enough sparkle and shine. The formulation is also incredible, and the staying power is decent, for an ultra-slick lipstick. Read the review here. Next up is from the NARS x Andy Warhol collaboration, a Larger Than Life Lipgloss in Viva! I have yet to review this (though, I’ve taken the pictures already), but it has changed my relationship with glosses. We are very, very good friends now. Last from the lip products is the Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum. Though I was met with a quite ghastly shade in the same purchase, I rather think that …

October Favorites

Maybe kind of late, but still helpful, I think. There’s not a lot I can say about my October favorites, because while I did hoard towards the end of the month, I only got to use most of them extensively in November, pre-makeup ban*. Here are a few stand-outs that I have loved last month. 1. Guerlain Écrin 4 Coueleurs Eyeshadow in Turandot (Reviewed here) Turandot is part of Guerlain’s Holiday 2012 collection. It’s a “Écrin 4 Coueleurs Eyeshadow,” which is just a fancy way of saying “eyeshadow quad.” How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Actually, it’s not all that complicated. It’s an upstanding palette, with a very warm and neutral overall look, but all the individual shades are still quite different from each other. There’s a pretty shimmery goldenrod, a rust-rose satin pink, a matte deep mauve, and a shimmery dark grey-brown, all rolled into one delicious pocket-sized wonder, mmm. How happy am I that this isn’t limited edition? Very. 2. Bronzer No specific brand—just the wonder of bronzer in …
