Quickie: Some Eye Bits from MAKE

I have already waxed poetic about the MAKE Colour Palettes (Post-Impressionism, Aether*, Celeste e Verde*), but let me tell you a bit about their other bits! For the non-palette obsessed lot of you. 🙂 Today, I gots a matte eyeshadow called Khaki* and the Transforming Eye Primer* both of which are totally up my alley. (What alley, you say? This alley. What do you mean this is not an alley…?)

Moss

A few months ago, I blogged about this super cool perfume brand called Commodity Goods. They offered “fitting kits,” which are small vials of all the scents they offer (reviewed here), in case you weren’t sure if you wanted to smell like Gin or Book or Mimosa. I ended up purchasing quite a few scents in the 10ml vials, but I reserved my 100ml order for Moss. It is a crisp but woodsy scent that has been designated by Commodity as both a male and female scent. Moss is one of my favorite scents to wear these days as it’s not as heavy Book, or as just-out-of-the-shower clean as Cloth. It’s pretty much perfect for me.

NARS Eyeshadow Duos—Depotted!

MakeupByTiffanyD recently made a video showing her viewers how to depot NARS eyeshadow duos using only floss and sheer will. I decided to follow suit and here are my current ones right now. I ended up doing what Makeup Magpie did and just pried the damn things from the compacts, which was pretty easy to do with a thin-enough pin and a little bit of patience. Some of them cracked a little because my glue wasn't as weak, but nothing major and heart-wrenching. I thought I'd take you through my NARS duo collection as of late. First Row: Charade, Dogon, Grand PalaisSecond Row: Habanera, China Seas, Kauai I have another one, Paramaribo, that I’ve set aside for a past/future blog sale. If it doesn’t sell, I think I just may keep it… and get a bigger blank palette! Just kidding! But let me know what you think I’m missing. I have my eye on Eurydice, Kuala Lumpur, Brousse, and Surabaya, but let me know if I’ve glossed over some gems. The pans automatically magnetize to …

A Case for Bases

I may have a problem! Look at all this crap. (Just kidding, cuddles face bases.) See, I never thought I would be the kind of “makeup enthusiast” who had a thing for bases. I was always always distracted by color cosmetics, so this is kind of a weird personal revelation. This is all a restrained effort at acquiring bases, mind you. I regularly clear out my stash, and I’ve also salivated over a number of other bases I’ve chosen to pretend to not exist. All to be mentioned at the end of this post. Ahem. So what is the case for bases? There isn’t really any case for it, other than the fact that I am a fickle person and I like having options. For the record, I like having “natural looking” skin. By this, I mean, I don’t mind if a pimple peeks through or if my eye bags aren’t 100% erased by foundation and concealer (… that’s a whole other story), so most of my foundations are medium coverage, at most. I just …

Feelin’ Fancy

I’m not really that fussy or picky with my things—usually—but I do recognize the power that something fancy holds. When I put on something just a little fancier than my normal wares, I feel my mood perk up a little bit. Call it superficial, but it’s the truth! (Perhaps I am just a superficial person? Cue another existential crisis for Carina.) I don’t really rely on much makeup for pick-me-ups, though I do have to hand it to Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait in Orgueil for making me feel like the HBIC and not a tiny, awkward mouse. I also feel a little bit better about myself when I pull out the Dior Addict Lip Glow to moisturize my lips, which was given to me by Laala from our swap! Recently, I’ve taken it upon myself to spritz on some perfume, something I used to do a lot in high school, but have outgrown now that I’m actually at an age when perfuming yourself is the norm. For extra fancy fumes, I use Diptyque’s Vetyverio. Normally, …

Recent Loves

I feel like it’s a bit too late to talk about “monthly favorites,” but I always have little products I want to talk a bit about. Here are the things I’ve been loving lately. Not exactly for an entire month, but just the ones I’ve been reaching for a lot these days. For my eyeshadow fave as of late, I’ve got a palette by NARS that I’m sure you are all familiar with, And God Created the Woman. This is such a great little palette. Recently, I’ve used this for eyebrows, eyeshadow and liner all at once. Other makeup favorites: I got the & Other Stories Eyebrow Pencil in Bouclé Greige from Laala and I’ve been using it a lot. I posted about my brow routine not long ago, and I sometimes have been using this in place of the K-Palette eyebrow marker. Another frequent easy lipstick I’ve been using a lot of lately is the THREE Velvet Lust Lipstick in 05 Love Like Heaven. The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger is steadily becoming …

TAG: If All My Makeup Disappeared Tomorrow

Hey everyone! Here’s just a short video of a tag that I saw going around on essiebutton’s and abb3rz07’s channels, and basically I list down stuff that I would repurchase, in a heartbeat, if all my makeup disappeared tomorrow. The technicalities of the disappearance are not important, just the products! Sorry about the random hair on my face! I do not really notice things like that. What about you? What are ten products you would repurchase if you had to start from scratch?
