Favorite Things: NARS Eyeshadow Duos

Here’s the thing about NARS Duos—you think you know better, but the colors really do go together. I found that to be true especially with Paramaribo and Grand Palais. I have four NARS duos, but I have my eye on a few more. Here’s a collective post of mine so you can see how awesome they are and maybe try one or two out for yourself. All of them swatched together! Oooooh~ Habanera is one of the first duos I bought, highly influenced by Kim of Gunk Fury, who sadly does not seem to update anymore. She used it for a smokey eye, tutorial here. Habanera is very pretty and soft with a “mint frost” and a “sparkling charcoal plum,” but it does not get that much love from me, because I bought it at a time when I was scared of über shimmer and just bought stuff because I was impressionable. I am not scared of glitter anymore, so let’s remedy this lack of Habanera love. Paramaribo is another duo I got when I …

Softly Sometimes & the Holy Grail: My HG Products

Liz of Project Vanity posted her Holy Grail products yesterday and I thought I’d do the same! If you didn’t already know, Holy Grail or HG products are essentially a person’s “Best of the Best.” You may loooooove eleventy billion products, but you probably have a favorite favorite, if you know what I mean. Here are my own! I’ll follow her format and add a couple of my own. 🙂 For reference, I think I am a warmer neutral, around light-medium. I’ve never been shade matched at anywhere, but I’ve inputted (weird word) my foundation shades on Findation, and here are supposedly my shades all across the board. It says that I am an NC37, an NW30, and an NC40. So you can imagine my confusion. I am not very oily, but I do oil up occasionally, and I do have a lot of dry flakes. So I don’t know what skin type that is. Very helpful, aren’t I? Also, I live in a very humid area. Anyway, let’s get started!

Favorite Things: Jonathan Adler for bareMinerals

“I believe we’re all beautiful on the inside. But you might as well do what you can on the outside.” — Jonathan Adler I love pretty things, and I went back and forth on whether or not I should buy this pretty limited edition set from bareMinerals. They collaborated with Jonathan Adler, a sort of celebrity in the home designing world. He has his own pretty successful line—Happy Chic, anyone?—and I believe he has a collaboration out currently with Barnes & Noble. I found out about it through Tomiko’s post. I tried a sample of my mom’s bM foundation, and I decided that I liked it. I got this instead of the normal foundation because it came with an awesome brush, too. You get a Deluxe size of the Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and the Handy Buki Brush. My shade is Medium Beige. On the packaging, it says that that’s N20. The pretty pattern features Adler’s signature chevron print. I didn’t know that the box was an LE acrylic box at the time …

Favorite Things: Cream Eyeshadow Inventory

It all started with a MAC Paint Pot. I read about the paint pot in Rubenesque, got it for myself, and then it all went downhill from there. I actually don’t regret my “descent” into cream shadow oblivion, and I don’t think I have enough to warrant any worry over a “problem.” Apart from two cream eyeshadow duos from e.l.f., these are my only cream eyeshadows. I think that’s a decent amount, considering my lack of self-control. I’ll talk about them as a whole, and then I’ll try to talk about them one by one. The reason why I love cream shadows is because they are sort of multi-purpose. They act as an eyeshadow base or wash, and some better formulated ones can act as your primer already. There is a complexity that they add to an eye look, I think, and they’re so darned easy to use. First up is my stash of Maybelline 24H Color Tattoo. So far, I have Tough as Taupe, Bad to the Bronze, and Audacious Asphalt. These are beautiful …
