Maison Martin Margiela with H&M

Here is a pretty cool, pretty creepy film for a new H&M—which I have now just learned stands for “Hennes and Mauritz”—collaboration. As per what the YouTube description says: The collaboration with H&M presents a re-edition of iconic Maison Martin Margiela garments and accessories for men and women. Each piece is specifically labeled with a unique tag indicating the season from which its originated, spanning 23 years since the Maison’s funding. The most representative pieces of Maison Martin Margiela are reproduced in updated shapes and materials and offered to the broad public as an exclusive synopsis of their history. The Maison Martin Margiela with H&M collection will be available in selected stores and online at http://www.hm.com/maisonmartinmargiela November 15th. The shapes are quite interesting, though I don’t know about the wearability of these, especially here in Manila. Which, I guess makes sense that we don’t actually have an H&M store here. I don’t think I’ve ever caught a collaboration/collection release at H&M except for the Lana del Ray stuff. Anyway, it’s a cool film, though I …

NARS x Andy Warhol Counter

I was a sick over the long holiday (lucky me!), so Sarie took a photo of the NARS x Andy Warhol counter for me. I will try and swatch them tomorrow, and maybe pick up a few things, too. My makeup ban is lifted if there are a) special GOOD DEAL sales, and b) limited edition items that I must acquire. I can’t wait to see these for myself tomorrow. (!) I will update you guys with another edition of a Counter Swatch, or if I’m lucky, a Real Review!

Lady Dior Web Documentary

While looking for my favorite Spring 2013 looks on the runway, I stumbled upon a sweet video made for The House of Dior. Part 4 of the web documentary, Lady Dior, it features charming illustrations and a song with the lyrics written and sung by Marion Cotillard. Entitled Lily’s Body, the fourth episode depicts the history of Dior in a romantic, Parisienne animation. Naturally, I looked for the rest. Episode 1: Fantasia – Marion Cotillard visits the Dior workshops and oversees the work on her gown for Cannes. Episode 2: Up and Up – In which we get a peek at the beautiful, constructed dress, some behind-the-scenes shots at photoshoots, and a glimpse of her singing a Beirut song. “The expertise of so many people at the service of one person’s imagination, craftsmanship at the service of art: I find it all quite fascinating.” — Marion Cottillard Episode 3: La métamorphose – A photoshoot for Dior with Marion Cottilard donning some very beautiful haute couture dresses. It’s better to watch them all in order. I …

Counter Swatch: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

These babies caught my eye while I was browsing Watsons with my mom last Sunday. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are like little chubby crayons, much different from their previous lip stain line, which were more like felt-tip markers. I swatched all the available shades there, but didn’t bother to look at the names, but I am quite certain these are the names, L-R by row: (1) Rendezvous, Smitten, (2) Darling, Sweetheart, (3) Charm, Precious, (4) Cherish, Lovesick. I’ll check again, though. These are heavyweight stains. After swatching, I went around stores looking at clothes (of course, careful not to stain them), and they didn’t budge. The gloss wore away pretty quickly, but the colors stayed put. I had to wipe these off to swatch some Shu Uemura items, and there were a few leftover stains, particularly from the two bottom shades. The product’s name—Kissable—has just been brought to light. One thing I like about these are that they are retractable—no sharpening and (in theory) no wasted product! The formulation is oddly creamy for …

FOTD: Guerlain Turandot

I wanted to take my eyeshadow palette from Guerlain’s Holiday 2012 collection out for a spin, so I put it on last minute. I was just tailing something like a press conference before Kent Williams’ exhibit at Blanc in Peninsula Manila. Naturally, I didn’t want to look too made up, so the colors of Guerlain’s Turandot Eyeshadow Palette seemed like a perfect fit. FOTD: Guerlain Turandot, Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Liner in Sepia Ink, MAC Jubilee Kent Williams is amazing. Here is chinny me, appreciating one of my favorite works on display, which happens to be a painted sketch. I have a love affair with these shoes (Clarks Desert Grace). Matching outfit with Nicky. With fellow fangirl, Val! With Sarie (who took all of these photos) and Kent Williams (!). Anyway, I quite like this palette. I’ll review it soon!
