New on my radar: ColourPop

I first learned of ColourPop from Victoria and a binge-watch of Kathleen Lights‘ videos nearly pushed me over the edge for their products. Their range is pretty modest: eyeshadows, lipsticks, and lip pencils. All at $5 each! They were met with super rave reviews, and since I saw some lip shades I wanted from their offerings, I thought I’d try out a few. I practically lunged at these babies during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday special. I restrained myself and got 2 shades of the Lippie Stix (ugh, this name!) and a limited edition collection of their Super Shock Shadows called Not a Box of Chocolates.

New from Beauty Box Corp.: Kracie

About two weeks ago, I got a package from Beauty Box Corp., the Philippine distributors of K-Palette, Cure, Fairydrops and Prostyle Fuwarie. Kracie is the latest addition to their lineup of Japanese brands, available now in Beauty Bar branches. The Pure Savon Body Wash* (Php 545 for 300ml) is made of a highly concentrated formula that lathers really well, using only just one pump. It contains moisturizers, shea butter, and Soapwort Extract. I have both scents, Classic Floral (green) and Rose Blend (pink). It’s great to know that this is made of plant-based surfactants/washing ingredients. The Aroma Resort line has two products, the Body Milk* (Php 495 for 220ml) and the Hand Cream* (Php 295 for 70ml) both of which I have in Shine Orange and Bergamot. The Aroma Resort series is enriched with abundant fruit and vegetable essences and a long-lasting scent. The essences include extracts from tomato, carrot, and kiwi, as well as Peach Essence, Orange Essence, and Avocado Oil. Aroma Resort products are also formulated with Rose Essence and Apricot Seed Oil …

KPalette - Mascara, Pencil Liner, Concealers

K-Palette: More Than Just Brows & Wings

About a month ago, I received a few items from my favorite eyeliner and eyebrow brand, K-Palette! I have been devoted to their liquid eyeliner and eyebrow products for the better part of two years—even when I try other brands and formulas, K-Palette always wins. Thank you Ms. Cheryl for such a generous gift! I mentioned the liquid eyeliner, but here’s something I never personally tried from the brand: 1Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eye Pencil* (Php 750) which comes in Super Black and Deep Brown.

MAKE Calypso Palette - Birchbox Exclusive

MAKE Colour Calypso Palette

The Calypso Palette by MAKE Colour is a Birchbox-exclusive and a purchase I’d been contemplating for a long-ish time before giving in. I bought it as part of the Limited Edition Vanity Affair box, which I posted about here, but it’s available on Birchbox by itself for $40. Unlike all the other MAKE palettes which combines eyeshadows and lipsticks, Calypso‘s an eight-pan eyeshadow palette with a cool-toned, blue-leaning selection, mixed with a bit of warmth and some neutrals. The first half (left side) of the pan has Alabaster, which is a really sparkly off-white shade and is present in the Aether* palette (review) and Bentonite Clay, which is a satin bone shade in the top row. The bottom row has Great Lakes, which is a cool medium grey with a bit of a periwinkle slant to it, and Woad, a deep dark indigo that’s also found in the New Medieval palette (review). The second half (right side) of the pan has Aquamarine, which is basically a bright aquamarine, and Star Anise, a muted copper with …

One Month Later: Glossier

Introduction Hey all! Here’s the in-depth Glossier Phase 1 Set review I promised about a month ago, when I posted this unboxing and first impressions post. The Phase 1 Set ($80) comes with four products, with a concentration on perfecting your base. All the products are available individually.

Takashi Murakami's 727

Made-Up History: Takashi Murakami’s 727, 1996

A quick look based on Takashi Murakami’s 727, which features DOB as the main character of the piece. I’ve been intending to do this look for a while, but just never got around to it. Takashi Murakami is a Japanese artist who’s known for blurring the lines between “high” and “low” art, that is, fine and commercial art. He has exhibited in international venues (I saw this piece in a retrospective/special exhibit by the Brooklyn Museum many, many years ago) and is involved with many commercial projects such as special edition Louis Vuittons.

Unboxing: BDJ Box x Covergirl for December 2014*

For December, BDJ Box partnered up with Covergirl, delivering five products to take your look from day to night. Here’s what’s inside the December 2014 BDJ Box*: TruBlend Liquid Makeup* (Php 645) TruBlend is a full-coverage foundation that comes in a whopping 21 shades. I got a shade that seems too light for me, but it blends in well. TruBlend Pressed Powder* (Php 425) This pressed powder is a lightweight, silky-smooth powder with shine-control. It doesn’t clog up the pores and is designed to work with the TruBlend Liquid Makeup. I got the shade “translucent light,” which I thought would be fine, but pressing it in with the sponge gave me quite a heavy coverage that was too light for my skin tone.
