Eye Love 3CE!

I thought I’d go crazy over the eyeshadows at Stylenanda’s 3CE, but I ended up just getting two matte eyeshadows and one cream eyeshadow. I was looking at a shu uemura-style horizontal palette, but resisted the very, very strong urge to pick up yet another neutral palette. The two matte eyeshadow shades I picked up were Salmon Pink, a matte… salmon pink, and Tom Boy, a very dirty olive. Both are so gorgeous, despite looking quite boring. I think they would be perfect for understated editorial looks–much like the campaign materials of 3CE feat. Park Sora. I resisted the cream shadow selection, too, and only got a warm medium bronzey brown called Glamorous. It reminds me a lot of my favorite eyeshadow, shu uemura’s ME medium brown 885, only it’s a lot less red.

A Dream Team: Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes and Creamy Lips

I’d been wanting to try Ellis Faas for the longest time and was fortunate enough to have received three shades of their Hot Lips range (review) as well as some base products (Skin Veil and Concealer review). However, the thing I was most excited to try were their Creamy Eyes Liquid Eyeshadows. After a favorable experience with their brand, I decided to take the plunge and get two of shades of the Creamy Eyes and one shade from their Creamy Lips range. I got the Creamy Eyes in E106 and E113—a lilac taupe and a navy blue respectively. I was obsessed with trying them out because I heard of their no-budge, no-smudge, no-crease formula, even without a primer! The range, however, is kind of pricey, so I settled on two that I think were unique enough and still wearable. I also got the Creamy Lips in L102, a deep plum wine.

Makeup Inventory & Short Reviews: MAC Paint Pots

I was able to get my hands on three more MAC paint pots so I thought it was time to make another Makeup Inventory post. Sarie shot an event for MAC so she could get me some makeup. You laugh, but ’tis true. She is the best. 😀 I got three paint pots and a lipstick. Today, I introduce you to Painterly, Groundwork, and Constructivist. I’d actually argue that there is a bit of logic behind these choices. Though, of course, that is to be expected! In any case, I picked fairly neutral ones. I knew I wanted to get a light, matte base, a dark neutral one, and another neutral matte. I originally wanted Stormy Pink, but it was out of stock so I got Groundwork instead. Some swatches of my new acquisitions: L-R: Painterly, Groundwork, Constructivist I usually use paint pots as a base, so I almost always top it off with eyeshadow. I will get into each shade more, with a closer look at the shades used as a base under shadow. …

Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP: September 2013 Box

Surprise! So it turns out I was going to be getting this subscription box, lol. Le Métier de Beauté opened their subs up again and sneaky Sarie got one for me as an early birthday present. UM. AWESOME? Because it was a late subscription, I got the September box first. Here’s what I got! Two True Colour Crème Eye Shadows in Starry Night and Champagne Shimmer. According to the card it came with, True Colour Crème Eye Shadows are “long-wearing, waterproof and resistant to settling into creases. This hydrating, smooth-as-silk formula is incredibly easy to apply and even easier to admire.” Champagne Shimmer: “Use as a hydrating, all-over radiance-enhancing highlighter. Beautiful under the eyebrow, over the cheeks, as well as on the eyelid. Can be used as an eye shadow primer.” Starry Night: “Create a mysterious starry night effect with this smokey crème shadow by applying a thin coat over daytime eye shadows. Perfect for transitioning an afternoon look into an exciting evening visage. Can also be used as a smoky base before layering powder …

Drugstore Finds: Maybelline Color Tattoos

I’ve been wearing a few Maybelline Color Tattoos for a while now, and I realized that I hadn’t shared them with you guys yet. I have three colors: Audacious Asphalt, Bad to the Bronze, and Tough as Taupe. It’s the kind of product that has been raved about so many times that I can’t say anything new about it anymore, really. I suppose that’s a good thing? These are essentially cream eyeshadows that you can wear on their own or as a base for other eye products. These go on very smoothly and are incredibly waterproof and crease-proof. I seriously went for a swim with Bad to the Bronze on my eyelids and it did not budge. These babies are such a great budget product, though a con I think would be that some of them dry out pretty quickly. If you can see my pot of Tough as Taupe up there, you’d see the product separating from the glass, so that’s not a good thing. It’s still a great thing to try out, though, …

Drugstore Finds: essence Stay All Day Long Lasting Eyeshadow

This was one of the two items I got during my Makeup No Buy, the other being an elf Liquid Eyeliner. I had points to spend and I was picking up stuff for my sister’s birthday, so I thought, why not? I’ve been meaning to try something from this brand, and I can’t say ‘no’ to cream eyeshadow. The shade I got, Glammy Goes To…, is a cool pale gold, almost like a champagne. The texture is a bit stiff, similar to the Stila Smudgepot, but this is actually a bit more workable because the texture is better. It still has a tendency to make eyelids crepe-y if you pack on too much, but you can just use it as a light wash of color. I find that unlike MAC paint pots, though, I can’t wear these alone. Perhaps it’s the color, which is extremely light, but I suspect it’s the texture as well. It’s not very blendable when it sets, and it does set fairly quickly. Here, I’m wearing it all over the lid, …

LUSH Cream Eyeshadow in Sophisticated

A while back, LUSH released a color cosmetics line and I’ve always wanted to try something from there out but didn’t really get a chance to. Until recently, that is! I finally took the plunge and got a cream eyeshadow. I figured that I might as well try some CF cream shadows that I like before saying goodbye to the ones I love and have. Anyway, I picked out Sophisticated, a shimmering taupe cream color. I tried out a couple, but I couldn’t take my mind off of this. It’s a beautiful taupe shadow that I felt would go with most of the colors that I owned. I really fell in love with it. This is an opaque swatch, and below is a blended out swatch: Here, it’s Sophisticated with shu uemura’s ME medium brown 885 in the outer corner and crease: These don’t crease, by the way. The line on my eyelid is just my eyelid. 🙂 I can’t put my finger on if it’s warm or cool, to be honest. I feel like …
