New Discoveries from Indie Lee

The Indie Lee Blemish Lotion and Calendula Eye Balm aren’t necessarily new items, but they are new to me. I was wrestling with a weirdly relentless bout of acne and was a little desperate for a spot treatment, so in the bin the Blemish Lotion went. I was also looking for a replacement for my current eye cream, which is by One Love Organics. It was okay, as far as moisture went, but I was also in the mood to try something else. The Blemish Lotion ($26; shop here) is a talc-free spot treatment, where you let a 100% natural solution of colloidal sulfur, zinc oxide, salicylic acid, magnesium aluminum silicate, camphor, and iron oxide settle onto the bottom of a bottle of water and isopropyl alcohol. You dip a cotton swab in the settled sediment and apply to spots, over a few hours or overnight. I swear, this has been a game changer for me. I tend to get really persistent spots around my nose area, but this calmed them down after just one …

Updated Skin Care Routine, December 2015

Okay, I’m about to look like a crazy, and honestly, you don’t need this much shit in your life, probably. I started getting into skin care when I started getting into makeup. My skin wasn’t doing worse necessarily, but I was made more acutely aware of what my skin type was and what it needed. I’ve mainly had pretty good skin for most of my life. I had like a disgusting rash on my cheek in grade 5, but other than that, no acne or very much breakouts except for hormonal ones like when I get my period. My skin got a little more high maintenance as I grew older, though. I honestly used to just let the water run down my face in the shower (lol), didn’t even use soap or any kind of moisturizer. But I think that wearing makeup and probably the stress of like adult life or whatever took a toll. I can’t really say for sure. All I know is that I want to take care of my skin, and …

April Favorites

April favorites time! I thought I didn’t have “enough,” but as you can see… I have quite a bit to share. I think it has to do with no favorite lip product, but I just didn’t love any one lip color enough this month to call it a favorite. As you can see in a bit, I had a really great eye makeup month. Skin Care Indie Lee Squalane Oil — Although I used some moisturizers here and there for the month of April, I relied heavily on this oil. I honestly don’t have any complaints about it. It’s sufficiently hydrating, doesn’t grease up (which counts for a lot when you live where I live), keeps my skin in check, and it doesn’t smell like anything. You know how products are called “unscented,” and it just means no perfume was added, so it still kind of smells like crap? This. Smells. Like. Nothing. A++++ repurchased forever. Cure Water Treatment Skin Cream* — This is essentially a GWP hand cream from Cure, but I feel like …

Post-Sunburn: Face Stuff

I don’t go to the beach that often so when I have a sunburn crisis, I kind of don’t really know what to do about my makeup. Since getting several shades darker, here are some of my favorite items to use—figured out after a few sessions of trial and error. Skin Care Sunbunrt skin tends to be dry and flaky. The day I got back, I had to go to a dinner, and I made the mistake of applying foundation on my dried up dry skin and by the end of the night, the situation was so not pretty. Even though the base I used was a liquid foundation with a dewy finish, it still wasn’t enough for my parched skin. My moisturizers of choice are Indie Lee Squalane Oil in the morning and One Love Organics Skin Savior Beauty Balm at night. Sun Protection I like to load up on the SPF, despite the burnt wreckage that is my face, so I don’t go lower than SPF 30. The ones in my current rotation …

February Favorites

February was a pretty busy month for me. I spent a lot of time out of the house—art fair, two trips, et cetera—which isn’t something that usually happens. I didn’t experiment or play much with makeup this month, mostly because I didn’t have the time to bother with it (huhu), but here are a few favorites from the month, anyway, most of which are “tried and true” status.

Oil Love You

HEH, sorry about the title. Today’s post is about facial oils! I’ve been using them for about six months or so, and I just wanted to sort of talk about what I have and when I like to use them. If you’ve been curious about these oils, read on!

Favorite Finds of 2014

Hey everyone! Here’s a quick post on some of my favorite finds this year. I had a really, really hard time narrowing down my picks because, frankly, 2014 was a great year of discovery for me, as far as beauty products and cosmetics are concerned. I’ve mixed in fragrance and skin care picks, as well as other products I really wanted to mention that I really loved as well. Let’s start with makeup!
