5 Product Face No. 2

BareMinerals Prime Time in Bronzed Twig // Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Dixie // K-Palette 24H Real Lasting 2-Way Eyebrow Liner // KATE Super Sharp Liquid Liner // Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation in Just Sheer A nice trick when looking for products for a 5-product face is to consider application. The ones I used for this particular look, I could use without brushes. For my base, I’ve got the Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation, which I sometimes apply with a flat foundation brush but works just as well when applied with fingers. Then, I’ve got the K-Palette 24H Real Lasting 2-Way Eyebrow Liner* for my brows. I appreciate it when my eyes are defined, so for that, I went with this gorgeous cream shadow (in atrocious packaging) from bareMinerals and a very thin, very slight wing using a liquid liner by KATE. I rounded out everything by using one of my favorite multi-use products—Illamasqua Cream Blusher—on my lips and cheeks. * PR Sample Follow me: Bloglovin' • Twitter • Instagram • YouTube • Facebook

FOTD: A Failed Minimalist

I was going for another 5 Product Face… but things got out of hand. I wore this to an IMAX screening of Guardians of the Galaxy (dying so much) and I thought it looked cute. Oh, bee tee dubs, I cut my hair again. The next time you see me, I’ll greet you as a baldy. Half-kidding. Face: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Ginger), Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Pressed Powder (Shade 2) Cheeks: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (Diffused Heat) Lips: Maybelline PinkAlert By ColorSensational (POW2)* Eyes: K-Palette 24H Real Lasting 2-Way Eyebrow Liner (G101)*, MAC Paint Pot (Groundwork), Makeup Geek Eyeshadows: Unexpected in the crease, extending past the outer corner, Cinderella and Bleached Blonde all over the lid, Mocha and Twilight in the outer ‘v’, Rockstar on the inner corner; KATE Super Sharp Liquid Liner (Black) And that’s that! I hope you guys like this look. 🙂 Tellie asked me about my “eyeshadow diagram,” so I’m working on that… probably to be posted later this week or early next week. I’ll keep you …

FOTD: Winging It

Ever since someone pointed out that my eye looks would look better with the definition of liner and mascara, I’ve rarely gone without them. Mostly because I agree. Adding a touch of eyeliner can add a world of difference to your looks, so I usually smudge some eye kohl, at least, when I don’t have the time or patience to do a wing. Given my eye shape/s (they are vastly different from each other), I’ve had a bit of trouble doing traditional winged liner. My eyes fold differently from each other—something I rather dramatically called My Ocular Affliction—so I stayed away from eyeliner wings… until I got the hang of it. I just begin in the middle of my eye, aligning it to the centre of my pupil. I draw a line, very thinly, and extend it to a wing that’s a little farther out than where my eye ends. The angle and incline of the wing are also quite small, so they don’t extend that far up, giving me the illusion of a more …

Big in Japan: Drugstore Finds, Part IV

And we’ve come to the end of my Japanese Drugstore finds. Sorry this last part took a while. It’s mostly comprised of stuff I got my mom and sister. 🙂 Majolica Majorca Cream de Cheek in RD411 or Kiichigo/Raspberry Cream and RD310 or Coral Cream. These are liquid blushes I got my mama because she’d been eyeing them for a while. 🙂 They come in this packaging, which is like a frosted glass bottle that resembles a nail polish bottle, right down to the applicator: These seem really complicated to use, but they are honestly the easiest thing in the world. If you know how to apply the liquid highlighters, stains, and whatnot by Benefit, then you’d be a pro at this! First, you put a well-placed dot on your cheeks: This is a really pretty coral, and it’s called Coral Cream (RD310). This is the first and only one my mom has opened, so this is the only one you’ll see for now. 🙂 After placing the drop, blend it out quickly: And that’s …

Sayonara, Lipstick Week: My Lipstick Collection

I saved the “best” for last. Here’s my embarrassing lipstick collection. Do I need all of it? Probably not. I think I have a nice, round collection, however, and I don’t own too many dupes. I know this because I tried to make a dupe post for Lipstick Week and failed. Ahem. I keep most of my lipsticks inside a small MUJI bag that I’ve fitted with the plastic containers. I put this bag inside a drawer because I like to keep the top of my desk relatively clean. Honestly, this isn’t the most ideal situation, but it works. Other lip products like glosses and stuff are in a clear jar. Others like balms, lip butters, lip tars, etc. are in a small drawer on my desk. OK, so let’s talk about the lipstick. Here’s pretty much everything I have: I know it looks like a lot, but I really try and clean out this collection and see if I haven’t used a lipstick in x number of months. I also try to keep the …

Big in Japan: Drugstore Finds Part III

Welcome to the third installment of my Japanese drugstore “haul”! So far, I think I’ve shown four products in each post, and I have four (sort of) to show you today. I haven’t actually opened one of them yet (you’ll see why), so it’s just going to be a peek at it. Anyway, let’s start! Here is my face that looks like it is shaped like an egg: Media Creamy Lasting Lipstick in PK-20 Ah, the last tube of my drugstore lipsticks. This purchase was really sort of like an afterthought, and although it is a good lipstick, I kind of wish I got one more Lavshuca instead (see here). These are almost half the price of those at ¥895 or about $9. PK-20 is a dusty pink with no shimmer, which is quite unusual for Japanese drugstore lipsticks, at least from what I observed from my excessive swatching. The tube is a bit flimsy. It reminds me of the way my Avon lipsticks felt in my hand, kind of like the pieces don’t really …

Big in Japan: Drugstore Finds, Part I

One of my favorite places to look for makeup in Japan was your regular ol’ Japanese drugstore. Before leaving, I made a list of things to check out at the drugstore. After a few trips here and there, I’ve found some of my favorite ones (so far). The thing is: the selection at the drugstore is so massive, but it’s so hard to come across a product that sucks. Here are some of the ones I got myself, nevertheless! I decided to just do quick reviews and split them into three or four parts. I’ll save the massive reviews for the more expensive items I ended up getting. 🙂 Lavshuca Dramatic Memory Rouge Lipstick in RS-1 Oh, Dramatic Memory Rouge, how I wanted to hoard you. I saw these first at Kate’s swatch post, and they were on the top of my list to try. I have never owned a lipstick tube so frilly as this: Of course, I gravitated towards the deepest, rosiest shade there was. This is in RS-1, which is a rosy-plummy …
