Packing for Taiwan

Hey all! Apologies for the radio silence, but if you’ve been following me on Instagram (@presidents, if you are so inclined), you’d know that I was in Taiwan. And between that, shuffling around the Art Fair last week, and getting work stuff done, I’ve neglected this space a little bit. Sorry about that. Anyway, as is customary, here’s what I brought along on this trip to Taipei. We flew on the 10th and got back on the 16th. I feel like it looks like a lot for that length of time, and honestly, I could have left a few things home. I still didn’t go crazy packing eyeshadows and palettes, so I’m a little bit proud of that. Face/Blush Stuff: Kosé Suncut Water in UV Protect Essence SPF 50+, Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint in Medium, Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Correcter in Medium, Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Pressed Powder in Shade 2, Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed Eye Stuff: K-Palette 24H Real Lasting 2-Way Eyebrow in G101*, NARS Pro-Prime …

Cataloging

Hello from windy Chicago! We left New York and New Jersey (with a sprinkling of Massachusetts and Pennsylvania)… and now we’re hitting SF, LA and Las Vegas in the next few weeks, so if you wanna tag along, here be my Instagram (hint: it’s @presidents!). I intended on cataloging the looks I wear on vacation, but it turns out that that’s much harder to do than I thought, so there are quite a bit of gaps here. I’ll post information as I remember them, and I’ll try looking through my folks’ and siblings’ cameras for possible look photos I can put on the days that I didn’t take a photo (which is most days). SEPTEMBER 15: Urban Decay Naked 3, Happy Skin Gel Liner (Brown), Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Fake Out! Mascara (pink tube), ILIA Beauty Multi-Stick (All of Me), ILIA Beauty Tinted Lip Conditioner (Shell Shock) SEPTEMBER 16: I DON’T REMEMBER ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR NARS Pure Matte Lipstick (Mascate) SEPTEMBER 17: Urban Decay Naked 3, MAKE Eyeshadow (Khaki)*, Happy Skin Gel Liner (Brown), Physician’s …

Traveling: What I Brought Along vs. What I Should Have Brought Instead

I have always been an overpacker. As a child, I would tote incredibly heavy bags filled with shit I didn’t need. I used to carry a DSLR, a laptop, and all my books and notebooks to school as a college freshman. Over time, I’ve learned to take only the essentials with me (usually), and on my last trip to Japan, which happened about two weeks ago, I thought I did a great job of streamlining everything—at least, when it came to my makeup bits. I didn’t want to deal with a proper base, so aside from my moisturizer, I brought along the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (review), which I’ve been setting with the Le Métier de Beauté Eye Brightening and Setting Powder (review). I’ve also got a small bottle of the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer (review) and the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette (review) for the rest of my face. For eyes, I’ve got my MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork, the NARS NARSissist Eyeshadow Palette (review), and the Le Métier de Beauté Anamorphic Lash Mascara …

Travel Tip: Decanting Products

Hey, everyone. Just popping in to give you guys a really quick, really obvious tip for traveling: Decant your skincare. Get a hold of these little pots and transfer a bit of the product there. As you can see, I saved a lot of room by leaving the full-size items at home, and bringing along just what I need. It lessens the risk of product wastage, too, in case anything gets lost, stolen, or broken. So, I have the Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Complexion Serum & Dark Spot Corrector, which I am in the middle of testing. The marketing for this product claimed visible results in 28 days, so I wanted to continue my testing period. Then, there’s the Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Serum, which I use on most nights. Sometimes I interchange it with the Mustela Bébé Hydra-Bébé Facial Cream, which is light enough to use in the daytime, too. This method raises issues of hygiene, but honestly, just wash your damn hands before you dip your fingers in pots of product. …

Yay or Nay: Makeup on a Plane?

Thoughts on this? Up until recently, I didn’t think anything of people wearing makeup on plane rides. In fact, I was surprised that people skipped on makeup when they’re going overseas. I guess they didn’t want to sit and stew in their made-up faces? Is there any other reason why it’s not advisable to wear makeup on airplanes? Please enlighten me. Personally, I don’t really care either way. It depends on how much time I have. I do keep some type of hydrating lip product in my bag, in case of severely cracked lips. But other than that, I carry on as usual. For long-haul flights, I get why people would rather go bare-faced, though. I’ve never really been fussy about makeup and removal until I started wearing a ton of it, but back when I didn’t really wear much, I didn’t really have to remove much, either. It kind of just fades throughout the day, too. LOL. Which works for me, I guess! (No, Carina. That is bad, bad, bad.) Anyway, I find that …

If You’re Travelin’ in the North Country Fair: Packing Light on Trips

In September, I took a month-long trip to Europe, on which my family and I got to go around eight different cities. It was amazing, but also tiring as we took the train to get to each destination. That meant we had to be mobile, so my “beauty regime” had to be fuss-free. This was relatively easy for me, as I wasn’t really that into makeup just yet. Here’s a list of what I brought: Travel Brush Set by The Body Shop BB Cream by The Body Shop NARS Eyeshadow Trio (Ramatuelle) Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet (La Distinguée) NARS Sheer Lipstick (Vendanges) MAC Creme Lipstick (Jubilee) NARS Blush (Orgasm) The Body Shop Eyebrow Kit Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer It all fit into a little Clinique bag. On the trip, I bought an eyeshadow duo, two singles, a lipstick, and an eye pen. Part of me is a little grateful that I wasn’t all that into makeup then because I would have hated bringing all those delicate~ items around the trip. As of print, …
