Unboxing: Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP September and October 2014

I’ve been running behind on unboxing posts for the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP, a monthly subscription box for the brand. (Not that anyone looks forward to these, amirite?) They are on their second year of the program, and I’ve got to admit that it just keeps getting better! For a subscription program that requires subscribers to pay upfront for the entire year, expectations are understandably high. Luckily, we’ve been getting awesome products (see other unboxing posts here), the only hitch being their sometimes slow and inadequate responses to customer service queries. For September, the second month of the sub as shipments start getting mailed out in August, the product is the Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Complexe, a tinted base that provides “sheer natural-looking coverage for instant smoothing and perfecting.” It can be used as a standalone (very sheer!) foundation or as a luminous base under other foundations.

Quick unboxing post of the BDJ Box for August 2014.* The theme for this month’s box is Luscious Locks, with 4 of the 7 items geared towards hair care. Spoiler Alert: I’m not too excited about this box, but that’s probably because I’m not very into hair products and also I just kinda cut my hair short so my hair care has been pretty low-key (lyesmith). I’ll let the contents speak for themselves! Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate, 30ml (Php 3500) My sample size is 5ml. This is an essence to be applied after cleansing and toning in the morning and at night. It promises to make the skin supple and glow with health with just 1 week of daily use. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Shine in Foxy Lady, 4g (Php 350) I’ve never tried this range before, even though it’s pretty popular. I got a pretty sheer brown shade that’s quite similar to one of my favorite shades, NARS’ Vendanges. I like the formula of this, but it does fade away with a slight …

Unboxing: BDJ Box (December 2013)*

Hey everyone, here’s a quick unboxing post of the BDJ Box for December. It’s another brand-centric offering from BDJ. This time, the spotlight is on Max Factor. It has quite a bit of makeup items in it that you can try extensively, which is always nice. The theme for this week’s box is Stand Out Like a Star. Max Factor is known as “the makeup of makeup artists,” and this box has a lot of items geared to making you feel like a Hollywood celebrity. Most of the items are sample-sized, with the exception of the Creme Puff, which is a compact powder. Here’s a rundown of the items that came with the BDJ Box: Creme Puff Pressed Powder in Medium Beige — “all-in-one compact powder originally made for movie stars.” I haven’t tried it on my face, but holy wow this is heavily scented! I know I just did an unboxing post, and I don’t normally do those because I haven’t really been buying subscription boxes or much of anything, really. However, I received the October 2013 BDJ Box and it’s a pretty awesome one, I thought I ought to share it, immediately. Like some of their most popular boxes, this month’s box is brand-centric, this time filled with products by Maybelline. I haven’t bought Maybelline products in a while, since I’m steering my makeup purchases towards a more cruelty-free direction, but I can attest to the quality of most of their products, especially their mascara and lip products. About two weeks ago, I received word that I was accepted into the second round of bntgirls, which is bntnews’ global beauty editors group! bntnews is a huge K-pop news portal based in the UK, with editors and writers spanning several countries, and now, including the Philippines. 🙂 Each month, we get missions and I’m so excited to get them done! The first bntgirls mission is to review the contents of this first beautybox. I was going to go right into it and not even do an unboxing, but then I changed my mind. Imagine my surprise when I got home to another BDJ Box for the month of July! When the team originally emailed me, I was supposed to get a certain number of boxes to try and I thought my BDJ time was up last month, but I counted wrong… HEH. So, I was so happy to get this month’s because I was eyeing that too cool for school BB Cream! This month’s box is freaking awesome, by the way. I’m so happy I was sent one. Unboxing Video: Glamourbox March 2013

So, I managed to get a Glamourbox subscription for March 2013. It’s one of those things that gets sold out so quickly that you need to get on board for the next time they roll out products. And it’s weird, because you don’t even know what you’re going to get, since subscription boxes—at least the meh ones—tend to be inconsistent. Anyway, that’s how marketing works, I guess.
