Bedside Matters

LOL the title is just a “play on words” thing for night routine. After cleansing, this is what I typically use. The heat has been so unforgiving lately, that my skin started to really freak out. I figured it was the heavy moisturizers I’d been using so I switched to a few lighter alternatives. After thoroughly taking my makeup off and sometimes toning, sometimes not, I used to use the Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Complexion Serum and Dark Spot Corrector, but as it is out of my price range right now (I mean, $125 for 0.5 oz?!), I turned to the forgotten serums and anti-aging potions in my stash right now. Sidenote: You know what’s funny? It never occurred to me to research just what peau vierge meant, and it turns out it’s French for VIRGIN SKIN. Almost spit out my drink there. Ha. My usual sequence goes like this: — A generous pump of the bareMinerals Multi-Wrinkle Repair, which I purchased quite a while ago. I like it because it’s like and …

Recent Loves

I feel like it’s a bit too late to talk about “monthly favorites,” but I always have little products I want to talk a bit about. Here are the things I’ve been loving lately. Not exactly for an entire month, but just the ones I’ve been reaching for a lot these days. For my eyeshadow fave as of late, I’ve got a palette by NARS that I’m sure you are all familiar with, And God Created the Woman. This is such a great little palette. Recently, I’ve used this for eyebrows, eyeshadow and liner all at once. Other makeup favorites: I got the & Other Stories Eyebrow Pencil in Bouclé Greige from Laala and I’ve been using it a lot. I posted about my brow routine not long ago, and I sometimes have been using this in place of the K-Palette eyebrow marker. Another frequent easy lipstick I’ve been using a lot of lately is the THREE Velvet Lust Lipstick in 05 Love Like Heaven. The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger is steadily becoming …

Verikos Deep Cleansing Oil Balm*

Another item in this month’s BNT Box is the Verikos Deep Cleansing Oil Balm* which I did not have very high hopes for. I can’t tell you why, but it was met with kind of a weird, unexciting feeling… At least, initially. I ate all of my “weird, unexciting feelings” after I tried it. I ate all of them! Ahem. The Verikos Deep Cleansing Oil Balm is an “easy make-up deep cleanser of Oil Balm type” that claims to “deep cleanse pores” and “exfoliate” sensitive skin types. Most of the information on the box is in Korean, but I know that it is mainly comprised of Canola Oil, and contains plant extracts and aroma oil. Also, it is a “5-free formula,” meaning it has no parabens, artificial dyes, mineral oil, alcohol, and synthetic perfume. Product Description: “As an oil-free cleansing balm, it thoroughly removes any contaminants and waste stored deep down in pores caused by air pollution. All those organic ingredients in the balm with nettle extract added would dissolve aged skin cells to make …

Verikos Choc Choc Tint in Amanda Pink*

I remember the only makeup my classmates ever bothered with back in high school was a slick of eyeliner and a swipe of a lip and cheek tint. These were super fuss-free makeup essentials then, since you can just put it on in the morning and go about your day, thinking about other things instead. You know, typical high school concerns. Ain’t nobody got time to think of lipstick! (I also went to a Catholic school where we were not allowed to wear makeup. So we went for Kool Aid lips instead.) The Verikos Choc Choc Tint* (which I got in Amanda Pink!) comes in a sleek black tube and minimalist type on the side, for which I am a sucker. It promises lip gloss + lip tint, vivid color, and excellent endurance. With a doe-foot applicator, you can apply it with ease.

Verikos Collagen Tightening Cream*

The Verikos Collagen Tightening Cream is a pretty interesting skincare product that I am super attracted to. Without the bells and whistles—or starfish and snail mucus—just your hydrolized collagen. Collagen is the selling point of this product; rightly so because collagen is a main component of skin connective tissue that takes up 70% of the skin and up to 90% in the dermis, on average. It’s known for moisture retention and elasticity control. The Verikos Collagen Tightening Cream is: — an anti-wrinkle functional cream — 5 free formula for sensitive skin type — nutritious and elastic skin care It “creates a moisture barrier on dry skin and the adenosine and collagen strengthen the skin barrier for hydrated and firm skin.” Aside from being perfect for dry skin, I appreciate how this product aims to have long-term effects by strengthening the skin barrier instead of just treating the dryness, for immediate relief. It contains amino acids for skin nutrition, too, helping peptide and adenosine enhance the collagen matrix in the skin. In effect, the skin becomes …

Verikos Aloe Calming Oil*

The Verikos Aloe Calming Oil* was actually the first item from the bntgirls November box that I pulled out first. It has a very earthy, organic look to it and I’m a sucker for aloe and clean design. There are also a small number of ingredients in this, so I know that it’s not full of crap at least. Sarie actually asked for this, if I didn’t end up enjoying it, but I actually really liked it. So I kept it for now. The Aloe Calming Oil “raises skin that is under stress by an outside hazardous article, moistly and comfortably.” I’m taking that to mean that this face oil is a moisturizer for stressed skin. Aloe is actually known to be soothing and moisturizing as well. Like my usual experience with aloe, it does not really give my dry skin enough moisture. I have been using it at my desk—I work from home and don’t usually wear makeup if I don’t have to, unless I’m testing stuff out—and also under a heavier moisturizer at …

Make That Face: Everyday Look with 3 Lip Options

I’ve been using the TONYMOLY Backstge Gel Liner on and off for the past few weeks, and I thought of a great way to use it for three different looks that’s “everyday-friendly,” just by changing up the lip color. Obviously, what you wear from day-to-day is up to you, but if you have a strict work environment or something, this is a good and easy makeup look to try. 🙂 EYES: Okay, this look is so easy that calling this a “tutorial” is kind of pointless. So don’t knife me, okay? Apply LUSH Cream Shadow in Sophisticated all over the lid, blending the color out a little bit past the crease. Add TONYMOLY Backstage Gel Liner in #11 Diva Gray* to upper lash line. Curl lashes. AND THAT’S IT FOR THE EYE MAKEUP. I have these two awesome products to thank because they are perfect for lazy people like me who still want to look nice. Okay, now for the rest of the makeup. I’ll list the products that I used that aren’t lip products. …
