AKA, I suck at titles, but this is what I picked and I’m sticking to it.
Anyway, this is a post on my small “collection” of scents. I don’t really collect scents. I just kind of find one that I really like then stick to that for a long time. I think it’s because I don’t really look for anything new very often.
Moschino’s Cheap & Chic I Love Love
This is my first “signature scent,” which is just another way of saying that this was the only sort of cologne or perfume I owned at the time. I love this smell, but that is just a fortunate stroke of luck, as I really, truly bought this for the packaging. I saw the packaging in a magazine ad and my parents bought it for me when we were on vacation in New York. That was when I knew that ads worked on gullible people like myself. Also, I was in high school, so give me a break.
I Love Love has very fresh and citrus-y topnotes which fade delicately into a woodsy smell. The longevity of the base notes is quite impressive, and that’s a good thing, because that’s my favorite part of the whole experience.
I stopped wearing this for a good long while, but I rediscovered it recently and I want to smell that beautiful woodsy smell on my wrist again.
Marc Jacobs’ Daisy
My mom bought this for me as pasalubong from a trip to Australia because I would go in Sephora stores on a previous trip to the US and spray it on my scarf and smell it all day. LOL. I was suckered into this by the packaging as well, but I quite like the scent, too.
Daisy has a very feminine, somewhat flowery smell that I don’t usually go for, but I really like. The top notes are strawberry and violet leaves, which smells very sweet. The midnotes are violet petals and jasmine, and the fragrance dies down to a musky vanilla scent, which I am not usually a big fan of, but in this case, I like.
It’s great for everyday, but it’s not really a “fresh” scent. It’s a really girly feminine smell that really invokes the image of fields of flowers.
Laurie of Eye Heart It has a beautiful scent story for Daisy that made me appreciate the fragrance even more. Hint: It has to do with F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.
LUSH’s Dirty
I’ve been wanting a solid perfume for a while (easy to reapply), and sniffed around the LUSH scents for a while before I settled on Dirty. It’s a fresh, just-out-of-the-shower smell, which is a weird description given its name.
I’m just going to post the fragrance description on the LUSH website, because it’s perfect:
“Dirty combines the intensely fresh scent of spearmint with herbal tarragon and thyme to create a modern fragrance meant for men, but appropriated by women everywhere. It was inspired by the term ‘Italian Shower,’ which describes the way many guys leap out of bed, spray under the shirt they’ve been wearing since yesterday, and head out the door. Clean, fresh and sexy.”
Basically, I love it. I love wearing it. I love smelling like it.
HerBench’s Remember Body Spray, Bath and Body Works’ Sweat Pea Body Splash
These two were Christmas gifts that I chose to keep and not toss. I find it a little risky to gift perfume to people whose personalities you don’t really know. These were the most agreeable to my nose.
Remember, which is my Lucy Torres-Gomez, is a feminine, flower-y smell. It’s fresh and clean, and not heavy or hazy. I have no idea what the notes are, but I can detect jasmine.
Sweet Pea is a super sweet floral scent. It’s “infused with real sweet violet extract.” Smelling it again, I feel like it’s too sweet for me as a cologne. I liked it a lot as a body lotion when I was in high school.
Random perfume samples!
I’ll quickly go through these and tell you which I love/don’t love, L-R.
Gucci Envy Me — I loved Gucci Envy, and I filched this from my mom because it is a pretty fruity-floral scent that fades into a musky scent.
Flower by Kenzo — I don’t know how I feel about this scent. It’s a little heavy and “hazy” for me. I got this from a Sephora purchase.
Yves Saint Laurent Saharienne — I got this in my Glamourbox (March 2013), and I love it. It’s a fresh, summer-y scent that starts out with a citrus smell that fades to a hint of pepper. In my unboxing video, I mentioned it smelled a lot like LUSH’s Flying Fox, which has a strong smell of jasmine. Saharienne doesn’t have jasmine in it, but it does have “white flowers,” which shares the same scent profile as jasmine. This is probably going to be my next scent purchase. I love this scent a lot.
Donna Karan Cashmere Mist — This is an odd fragrance. It’s musky and contains Cashmere Wood and “Suede” (?) and I’m not sure if I like it because it’s a heavy, more mature scent.
Britney Spears Radiance — I got this sample from a BDJ Box. Do I like it? It’s okay, though I’m not a fan of berry-musky scents. There is a fragrance note in it that I don’t really like that much. It’s very girly, but also very old if that makes sense.
That’s all, folks! What are your favorite scents?
Philosophy’s Amazing Grace and Pure Grace
Elie Saab La Parfum
Fresh’s Brown Sugar and Hesperides
Kiehl’s Nashi Blossom and Pink Grapefruit
These are what I have in my collection but basically I love any scent that makes me smell like I’m “bagong ligo” or “baby powder.” Your post makes me want to try Lush’s Dirty.
Where do you get Elie Saab? I recommend Dirty, then! It’s not a powdery scent, it’s a fresh out of the shower kinda smell and I love it!
Chloe, hands down, has got to be my favorite. And then my runners-up would have to be Prada’s Infusion d’Iris and L’EauParKanzo Indigo 🙂
My sister loves Chloe! 🙂
*Kenzo. Hehe
Chloe is really the best! I’m obsessed with their Chloe eau de parfum! Amazing!!
I feel like if I could describe wine and fragrances, I could describe anything in the world. So jealous of those who can, sigh.
That description of Dirty sounds amazing, though stop trying to encourage and enable Italian men in practicing this, Lush copywriter! You fail to mention how such men end up smelling by the end of the day.
I also really like Gucci Envy. I’d always spray it on in Sephora and just never buy it ha. Currently I switch between Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia and French Lime Blossom, the latter of which makes me feel like I’m swanning around in a villa in Bali. However, I’ve gotten the most compliments when wearing Victoria’s Secret Strawberries and Champagne (lotion then spray then eau d’toilette – layers, whut whut!) Don’t knock the stuff.
I know! Sometimes I can detect some smells (like jasmine is pretty easy), but often I revert to “it smells like (something specific and particular but not universal)” and then I don’t explain it very well.
LOL. True. The good thing about Dirty, though, is that you don’t end up smelling like that!
I’ve been wanting to try Jo Malone, but like I said, I don’t really actively seek out scents or anything. Those seem like they smell absolutely amazing. I don’t like too-sweet smells! I feel like I won’t like that VS scent, haha. I don’t have a lot of MAC lipsticks because I have a hard time with the vanilla smell.
D&G Light Blue, Polo Sport # 2, Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden, Paris Hilton Perfume are my top faves! I love perfumes! 🙂
Aww, my mom wore Green Tea a lot, and I do like that scent. 🙂
Ralph Lauren Big Pony 2 pala, not Polo Sport # 2. (LOL).
I really love Acca Kappa Muschio Bianco/ White Moss (top notes are juniper berries and citruses; middle notes are lavender and woodsy notes; base notes are amber, oakmoss and white musk), Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Scent Spray (top notes are caraway, fruity rhubarb, lemon, orange zest and bergamot; middle notes are cool minty peppermint, green tea, sweet jasmine, spicy carnation, fresh fennel and crisp celery spice; base notes are oakmoss, musk and amber), and Apivita Aromatherapy Energy Fragrance (orange and ginger).
I copy-pasted all those descriptions from the internet, btw. Lol. Among all of them, my favorite is Apivita, but it’s really hard to find here. I’m actually afraid they discontinued it because it doesn’t seem to be on their website anymore, either. 😦 I find that I like citrus and gingery scents best.
My “formal” scent is my sister’s Bvlgari Omnia Amethyste.
I love these things, but they’re just so expensive, huhu. I really miss that Apivita scent.
That Acca Kappa scent sounds sooooooo good. My mama used to wear Green Tea a lot 😀
You know, there is a variant of cologne in Bench that has ginger and citrus/orange, though not together, and they smell so good. My parents prefer the orange one, but I recently smelled the one with ginger and ack, every time I think about it, I wonder why I didn’t buy it.
I agree, they are so expensive. I was going to buy this YSL gift set the other day, but then I stopped and thought, “well, wait a minute…” because it was 4,800 and just, no.
in high school i used davidoff’s cool waters! haha remember those? in college i was so into vanilla, and now i guess ive been into a lot of ‘clean’ and/or powdery scents but lately, ive been wanting to dive into more floral scents.hmm..
Siyempre naman! I always had a bottle in my Girbaud bag HAHAHA. What kind of floral? Fresh or heady or sweet? 🙂 I like fresh florals the best!
i like fresh florals, too, i think. it’s the ‘safest’ one haha, especially when you’re not used to wearing florals :p
I’m currently wearing pureDKNY http://www.sephora.com/puredkny-P270405 – “The fragrance’s top notes soar of the pure scent of vanilla. Accords of dewdrop petal, lotus flower, and Bulgarian rose harmonize with a floral heart of jasmine, freesia and lush orchid. It finishes in a cradle of warmth: white amber, creamy sandalwood.”
I got a sample as a gift from a Multiply seller. I love it! Thinking of getting the full bottle. 🙂
Oh wow, that sounds so good. I’m not a vanilla fan, but I love jasmine, rose, and woodsy scents!
I had a sample of Marc Jacob’s Daisy. It was just okay for me.
My favorite scent is Gap Dream! It reminds me of high school (when I used to wear it); it makes me feel so nostalgic. I also like DKNY’s Be Delicious.
I love Daisy, though I can understand why some people wouldn’t like it. Like other scents, I suppose! 🙂
There was this Gap scent that I smelled in the shop and loved, but I don’t quite remember what it was. I do remember Gap Dream being such a big deal when I was younger, though.
Haha! Yeah, it’s definitely a late 90s – early 2000s thing. Always takes me back!
I love your list of scents. My favorite budget perfume is Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom. It smells amazing!

Thank you. 🙂 That sounds really amazing. I’m going to Japan next week and I can’t wait to smell the cherry blossoms for real!
I don’t really have a steady favorite – my tastes rotate with the seasons! I have a lot of them and I keep getting more T_T I love the idea of LUSH Dirty – gotta get my hands on a sample!
Do you find yourself gravitating towards a particular scent? 🙂 I really recommend Dirty!
I`m soo intrigued about Lush “Dirty”. The description is just sooo perfect, probably will try it! Nicely written 🙂
You should definitely at least try it in the store! It’s quite an awesome scent.
L’eau par Kenzo (!!!) and Moschino Light Clouds. Oh, also, Dior Addict 2!! 🙂
Prada Candy is a year-round fave for me….for spring and summer I also like Jo Malone White Jasmine & Mint and Nectarine Blossom & Honey and Chanel Chance Eau Tendre!
Oooh, I’d love to smell Prada Candy. Been hearing about it a lot! 🙂 Also, I wish I could get Jo Malone here. White Jasmine and Mint sounds lovely!
what a nice condensed collection 🙂 i have too much stuff i think! My favorite is Diptyque Eau Rose, and I have a handful of others that i like too. TOO many perfumes for me lol
Yeah, I remember your post on that! 🙂 Ack, now I’ve been looking at more fragrances. LOL!
It’s a bad habit to get into I think lol 😉
My favourite is Boss Orange. I like darkly sweet things, musky, but warm, not harsh.
Basically, I totally fell in love with Boss Boss (for men), but didn’t quite want to get a men’s sent (maybe I will next time, actually 😉 I think Boss Boss may be MY FAVORITE, actually), and got really excited that they had a similarly sweet musky sent for women (only sweeter and a little lighter?). I really really like it. It was my first expensive perfume buy (or birthday request, as it were) I find the smell wears off faster than I’d like though. 😦
I like Coco Mademoiselle for when I’m feeling fancy (once upon a time my brother worked in the makeup section of a dugstore, and got lots of free samples he’d give me :D). It’s lovely and elegant and grown up, but it’s not ‘me’ enough that I’d wear it regularly.
I got a sample of Taylor Swift’s Enchanted/Wonderstruck, and it’s one of my few free samples I actually use. It’s really sweet, and not a complex smell, but nice and deep. It’s like the cheap but yummy caramel filled chocolate of the perfume world. A little indulgant for every day, but perfect every once in a while 🙂 It also lasts quite a long time, which I like. Obviously.
I also confess that I really really like Chloe as well. I don’t feel like it’s ‘my’ smell though, perhaps due to the fact that it was my first roommate’s perfume? Aka I don’t think it’s me enough for me to wear, but I love smelling it. I always recognize it when I pass people in the street wearing it. I feel like a total creeper that I could go up to them and say “you’re wearing Chloe”, but the fact also delights me x)
