February was a pretty busy month for me. I spent a lot of time out of the house—art fair, two trips, et cetera—which isn’t something that usually happens. I didn’t experiment or play much with makeup this month, mostly because I didn’t have the time to bother with it (huhu), but here are a few favorites from the month, anyway, most of which are “tried and true” status.
So, I haven’t done these in a while, but I thought it would be a good video to start the year with! I always enjoy making videos, so I’m not sure why I don’t do them more often. In any case, here are my favorites for January. I’ve made a few empties posts here and there, but never consistently because I keep itching to throw everything away. However, I’ve recently made a conscious effort to use up my samples—you know, a sample a day keeps the impending destiny of becoming a hoarder away—and sometimes, empties posts are actually useful! The empties I have today are just samples. Samples are exciting, but they are also susceptible to forgetfulness and a future as waste. So, these are what I’ve used up since about late October.
OK, so I’ve just written up a post on my main blog, Nothing Spaces, where I went on and on… and on about Aromateria. Aromateria is a local brand that makes solid perfumes. I was such a big fan of LUSH’s solid perfumes, annoying packaging aside, and I particularly liked Dirty, which is incidentally such a clean and fresh scent. I first heard about Aromateria from Sheena, who Instagrammed a few scents two years ago. I know both Eliza and Wiji are fans, too.
A few months ago, I blogged about this super cool perfume brand called Commodity Goods. They offered “fitting kits,” which are small vials of all the scents they offer (reviewed here), in case you weren’t sure if you wanted to smell like Gin or Book or Mimosa. I ended up purchasing quite a few scents in the 10ml vials, but I reserved my 100ml order for Moss. It is a crisp but woodsy scent that has been designated by Commodity as both a male and female scent. Moss is one of my favorite scents to wear these days as it’s not as heavy Book, or as just-out-of-the-shower clean as Cloth. It’s pretty much perfect for me.
Until quite recently, I hadn’t been particular about perfumes and colognes since I was in high school. I started wearing scents regularly when I was in the fourth or fifth grade, with my choices being increasingly masculine until I began wearing more feminine and fresh scents in high school. I suppose, it felt like sort of a ritual, a part of my everyday routine. It fell by the wayside when I had a jumbled up schedule in college. All of a sudden, I was always just scrambling to try and get to school on time. LOL I actually finished off a bottle of Davidoff Cool Water in the fifth grade. Does anybody remember this scent? I wore this WAY before Sawyer did, though. Recently, I’ve been trying to get back into wearing scents. For some reason—I’m not really sure what, but I’ve been gravitating towards certain smells. I’m not into scents much, but lately, I’ve been trying on different ones to see which I like the best. So far, my scent preferences have differed a lot from when I was a kid (I used to wear perfume and cologne more before), so it’s been a challenge looking for something that suits me personally.
