For Nosy Beauty Vol. 4, we have Gia! She is currently a grad student at the journalism school in Ateneo and a full-time news writer for ANC (among several side-gigs) and my Internet friend. I don’t really even remember how we became friends, but when the makeup talk happened, it just became one big giant flailing party.

Here’s my “everyday” kit! I say “everyday” loosely; I really only wear a decently full face of makeup 3-4 afternoons a week including weekends.

BASE: Vichy Aera Mineral BB Cream in Natural, Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 52 Vanilla, MAC Studio Fix powder foundation in NC40, CVS Advanced Healing ointment

“The CVS ointment is basically heavy-duty moisturizer, for my lips and dry skin patches. On hot days in Manila, I also like to use Revlon Photoready Perfecting primer instead of the BB cream, because it’s great at making your foundation sweat-proof. I use Studio Fix to set.”

CONCEALER: YSL Touche Eclat brightener in 02, Bourjois concealer stick in 71 Light Beige, MAC Studio Fix concealer in NC35

Touche Eclat for the entire eye area, because my lids are actually darker than my undereye. This is an HG product for me. I love it to pieces and it’s lasting me forever! Bourjois and MAC Studio Fix are for spot correcting.

CHEEK: NARS blush in Oasis, NARS blush in Orgasm, Burberry Light Glow Natural Blush in Hydrangea Pink, Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Powder Pink, theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter

BROWS: K-Palette eyebrow liquid liner in 02 Grey-brown

TOOLS: Bobbi Brown blush and cream shadow brushes, shu uemura eyelash curler

“I embarrassingly tote no less than 6 lippies at a time: 3 pinks and 3 reds, in different shades and finishes. Bobbi Brown in Nude is my go-to MLBB color.”

LIPS: MAC Rebel, Bobbi Brown lip color in Nude, Burberry lip cover in Blush, Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in Vendome, NARS pure matte lipstick in Vesuvio, Guerlain Orgueil Rouge G L’Extrait

“What my makeup routine DOESN’T include is eyeshadow. I have a grand total of two palettes, the Naked 2 and a purple quad from Lancome. But I wear glasses and I find too much eye product overwhelms that area, so I line my eyes and use lots of mascara and that’s it. I save the e/s for special occasions.”

“Now, my REAL everyday makeup is much more utilitarian, because I’m at work by 6 a.m. and there’s not much time for anything else when you’re zipping around in the newsroom. I use a cheek tint, because it wears for hours (Canmake cheek color in CL01, but I also love The Body Shop’s lip and cheek tint). Then I line my brows with NYX eyebrow shadow cake in Brunette.”

“I don’t really know what my beauty philosophy is, as I just started getting into makeup this year, but I favor strong brows and a good base, then highlighting just one or two features.

So I’ll do a very retro winged liner with a red lip and just contour on the face, or a pop-of-color eyeliner with pink cheeks and a nude lip, etc. But overall I go for polished looks, sorta prim and put-together.”
