FOTD: Ginger Lily

Laura Mercier Artist Palette - Open Box

A quick Face of the Day using a long-forgotten love—my Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes! I have the 2012 version, and it was my first big palette purchase and I fell in absolute love with it. To Me, You Are Perfect kind of level. I think it still might be my favorite palette, if not after the NARS NARSissist Eyeshadow Palette, released earlier this year. Anyway. The look is pretty simple, despite what this long-ass intro might lead you to believe.

20 Days of Lipstick - Flower Beauty - Ginger Lily

I think it’s pretty and soft and suits this bold-ass orange lip by Flower Beauty called Ginger Lily, which is the orange lipstick that made me swear off orange lipsticks. And then it grew on me—go figure!

FOTD - Ginger Lily - Eyes

For the eyes, I used a MAC Paint Pot (Groundwork) for a base on the mobile lid, blended a little past my natural crease. For my lid color, I used Vanilla Nuts, a creamy off-white matte from the palette, all over the lid. I deepened outer ‘v’—just the outer ‘v’!—with a beautiful shimmery chocolate brown called… Chocolate! Then I used Plum Smoke, a light matte plum for the crease, then foiled African Violet (with MAC Fix+) on my lower lash line. It looks golden in the picture, but if you notice the eye farther from the camera, the shadow on my lower lash line shifts to purple. This is a gorgeous color and makes an appearance in practically every Laura Mercier palette.

In other words, African Violet is Laura Mercier’s Orgasm.

Anyway, I made a little wing with the Illamasqua Precision Ink in Wisdom, a beautiful golden khaki olive liquid liner. And that’s mostly it! I’ve been trying to be a bit more fun with my makeup (because it makes me happy), and I think this is a happy medium between fun and basic.

Products Used:
— The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit (02)
— MAC Paint Pot (Groundwork)
— Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes, 2012 (Vanilla Nuts, Plum Smoke, Chocolate, African Violet)
— 3CE I’m Good! Mascara*
— Illamasqua Precision Ink (Wisdom)
— Rouge Bunny Rouge Prelude in the Clouds
— BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector (Opal)
— NARS Sheer Glow (Punjab)

— Illamasqua Cream Foundation (CF 320)
— Le Métier de Beauté Eye Brightening and Setting Powder (Refresh)
— Tom Ford Cheek Color (Wicked)
— Flower Beauty Kiss Stick High Shine Lipstick (Ginger Lily)

The Artist’s Palette for Eyes is still the one and only product I have by Laura Mercier. I took such a long time deciding what to get from them, the next thing I knew they weren’t cruelty-free anymore. Oh well.

I hope you like this look! 🙂

That looks really pretty! I really want to try some products from Flower, especially that lipstick!!

    • Thanks for thinking so! It’s kind of a hit or miss brand for me, but they have a bunch of good stuff 🙂

Gorgeous daytime look. I love how you’ve had fun with colour on the eyes (purple, khaki and gold!) but it reads so soft, subtle and pretty.
African Violet is a shapeshifter! Would never have thought to go to Laura Mercier for duochrome type effects so thanks for the tip x

    • Thank you so much. 🙂 I don’t find Laura Mercier to be too adventurous with shade selection, but African Violet is truly in a league of its own.

  3. Hahaha African Violet is Laura Mercier’s Orgasm :p I still don’t own it but I want it! Waiting for this year’s Artist’s Palette to come out 🙂

    • Ahh, I’m sure it’ll be pretty! 🙂 I wanted to get last year’s version so badly, as it leaned slightly purple and I love purple eye stuff.

You look lovely!!! This version of the Artist Palette was so pretty and I love the combination of colors you used on your eyes.
Hey, your complexion and glow in this look is really fantastic! Did you use the Becca SSP & RBR mixed into your foundation?

    • Thank you Belly! 🙂 Nope, I usually do layers! So, RBR first then BECCA SSP then Foundation. -_- Too much work, really. I should try and mix, but I don’t like SSP all over mah face; just the highlightery parts. 🙂

  5. F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S!!! So very ganda in everything. Eyes, lips and base are all on-point. Can you please do a shading chart next time for your eye shadows? I like what you do but I’m not sure how far you take each color because they’re so well-blended.

    • EEP, thank you ❤ Sige, haha I think I made an old one, but I basically do a rule of thirds and I don't overblend!

Your skin is so nice! I love the lip color on you.

Anyway, an off topic question, when you order throug ASOS do you deal with customs stuff? Or it gets delivered at your door? Thanks!
