Burt’s Bees for your Body, Hands & Feet

Burts Bees

Here are some of the items I received from Burt’s Bees’ 30th birthday celebration. Funnily enough, I didn’t get any of the skin care lines (by this, I mean the face ranges), but it made me realize how much I’d been neglecting the rest of my skin.

My invite to the Burt’s Bees event actually came with their Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream and I’ve been slathering that on my cuticles pretty liberally. Needless to say, it’s been a welcome addition to my desk distractions. 🙂 As for the rest of the items, here’s what I got and some first impressions. BurtsBees1

Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion*
Formulated for normal to dry skin, this body lotion boasts “24-Hour Moisturization.” There are quite a number of ingredients (that I can’t spell, har har) but the main attractions of this product are milk, which softens the skin, and honey, which naturally nourishes. There are also a number of “botanical moisturizers” like Coconut Oil and Grape Seed Oil, as well as Vitamin E. For something that boasts intense moisturization, this lotion actually sinks into the skin pretty quickly, though leaves the skin nice and soft. I find other intense hydration lotions to be pretty irksome when I have to wait for the ingredients to settle down so I can sit down and type. Be careful not to apply too much, though!

Honey and Bilberry Foot Cream*
Again, this is for moisture! This foot cream enlists the help of honey (again for its nourishing properties) and Jojoba Butter (for skin-softening) as well as Bilberry Extract, which moisturizes and gently exfoliates dry feet. I also spot Grape Seed Oil, Glycerine, and beeswax in the mixture. It’s not a terribly heavy formula; it’s definitely not going to do much with my super callouses, but there is a great deal of hydration that I’d been previously depriving my poor feet of.

Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme*
I am most excited for this! I mean, I like the rest, too, but this is a multi-purpose “hand” creme that can be used for dry or rough hands, elbows, knees, and feet. Unlike the other products in this post, this creme has Almond Oil listed as a first ingredient, instead of water, so it’s actually a lot more solid than the rest. It’s a little too thick for repeated use, so I’ve decided to break this out only for severe cases.

BurtsBees3

Shea Butter Hand Repair Cream*
Formulated with Cocoa Butter & Sesame Oil, this is an “ultra-lush” hand cream that also absorbs quickly (yay!). Like the Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme, this is made of 100% Natural ingredients. The other two are 99% Natural, which is also pretty great. I like the smell of this the most, wait for it… Rosemary! I like this a lot and I keep it by my work desk.

My dry skin isn’t distressingly finicky, but it can get gross if I don’t look after it from time to time. I’m looking forward to seeing how well these items will fare in a colder climate, where my skin is more prone to shriveling up and will need more moisture.

These are great for night time use for me, since they tend to be quite heavy in fragrance, and in the cases of the Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme and the Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion heavy in the texture as well.
