BNTGirls Review: Claire’s Guérisson 9-Complex Cream*

So, apparently, horse fat in creams is a thing in both South Korea and Japan.

The last product in my BNT Girls Box is the Claire’s Guérisson 9-Complex Cream* which has horse fat as its main ingredient to fight the evils of aging and the settling in of those pesky wrinkles. According to several listings of this “miracle product,” horse fat greatly reduces scarring and that the Guérisson 9-Complex in particular is a natural formula that’s suitable even for babies to use. The fat is rendered from horses from Germany, free from steroids, preservatives or “flavorings.”

Claire's Guerisson 9-Complex Cream - Sealed

This is very sought after, with fakes popping up all over eBay, because of its good reputation as a “youthful face rejuvenation cream.” The inner cover is sealed, unlike most of the creams I’ve tried.

Aside from the controversial horse fat, it also contains hempseed oil, which targets skin recovery, and Vitamin E which “acts as an anti-oxidant.” The cream is rich and thick, quite dense for use in Manila, I think.

You can use this cream on your entire face or do something similar to a spot treatment and just apply it to the areas prone to skin damage, scarring, and wrinkles. The Guérisson 9-Complex Cream mildly permeates the skin, forming a moisture layer that allows the skin to be moist and stay healthy, allegedly for 72 hours.

I couldn’t put this cream on my face because I have issues, so my test patch is a peklat or scar I have on my right wrist and other wounds that have sustained pigmentation over the years. I have yet to see them fade, but the areas definitely feel more nourished and hydrated at first. After a bit more use, though, some spots that I thought were healing worsened and turned red.

I’ll admit that it took me a really long time to wrap my head around the fact that this cream has fat from a horse. And it made me think about what set horses apart from other animals that I can’t stomach the thought of using horses for products, when the same thing probably happens when stuff like lard is made. In any case, Googling actually informed me that it’s common in some countries (even my own) to eat horse and that horse fat is just a by-product of the meat industry. Still, I can’t help but think of Shadowfax.

I don’t have plans to use this on my face, but you can check reviews from the other BNT Girls: Joanne, Kine, Doris, Bella.
