I’m not one to layer my lip colors all that much, which explains why glosses and liners get little love from me. I think I’m just lazy that way, a grab-and-go kinda girl, I guess. However, I have been trying to make not-so-perfect lip shades work better for me with the power of layering.
In Glow vs. Glow, I’m pitting two known glow-givers against each other. It all started when I noticed that the Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Tinted Complexe is THE SAME PRODUCT as the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector—or is it? At first glance, it’s easy to dismiss them both as liquid highlighters, but it’s not quite the end of that story.
Sometimes I feel like my compulsion to shop is just that: a compulsion. I don’t need any other makeup thing, to tell you the truth. After I’ve filled my virtual cart with the things I think I need, I click out of the window and look through my stuff. I have a six-slot lipstick holder on my desk and I’ve taken to switching out lipsticks from my considerably bigger case in my big drawer to these slots so I can concentrate on my chosen ones. For April, these are the lipsticks that I’ve chosen.
I received the best email ever, a few days ago! Ellis Faas made a book. I’ve always been interested in “learning the basics” from beauty book staples by artists like Bobbi Brown and Kevyn Aucoin, but this is just on a whole other level of excitement for me. I’ve been such a big fan of Ellis Faas products—love at first swipe!—but I’m even moreso in love with her approach to makeup, and the progression of her story, coming from a photography background. Before March ends, I’ll go ahead and share this box I got from BDJ a few weeks ago! Following their last, Kawaii Must-Haves box, BDJ’s March box* is larger than usual. If the header photo didn’t already give it away… the box is a Pond’s exclusive! I remember Pond’s as my first facial wash choice when I was a young’n and although I haven’t tried their famous cold cream, everyone I know—and their mother!—swears by it as a makeup remover. I don’t have strong feelings for Pond’s as a brand—I kind of find the “Flawless White” campaign kind of damaging, but maybe that’s partly because I am not the biggest fan of Toni Gonzaga. I guess that’s neither here nor there.
I actually got this up on time, ish! Go me. If you’re new, the Beauty Vault VIP is an annual beauty subscription by Le Métier de Beauté that’s on its second year. Each month’s box “costs” about $30, which is a pretty good deal considering LMdB’s usual price point which, let’s face it, is sky-high. I haven’t bought any new makeup items this year (so far), and I think my desire for new makeup is curbed in part by these monthly arrivals. 🙂 I’m pretty happy with the March box, which is a set of what looks like to be one Lip Crème and one Sheer Brilliance Lip Gloss. I am a fan of both, so I’m on board this train. It’s been met with lukewarm reviews, from the BVVIP forum I frequent, and though I’ve yet to wear these shades in particular, both of these lip gloss formulas are two of the few I do like anyway.
