Myra VitaGlow BB Cream*

Sometime last week, I got an unexpected package from Myra, which I think is pretty popular for their girl vitamins (Myra 300 E). The first tinted moisturizer I ever tried was by Myra, back in college probably, and I chucked that thing out incredibly quick because I was much more afraid of shimmery things on my face back then. This time around, I got to try their version of the BB Cream. I say “their version” because I don’t think this comes even close to your standard BB Cream.

New Releases From Maybelline*

Earlier this week, I got a cute surprise from Maybelline: some of their new releases, which includes four lipsticks and three brow mascaras, all tucked into this hot pink lip purse! I’ve fallen behind the new Maybelline releases since I’ve steered my beauty consumption towards a more cruelty-free route quite a while ago. The four lipsticks are variations of pink, as they are part of the Maybelline Pink Alert Lipsticks, which is a new addition to their Color Sensational range. I think it’s an attempt to kind of “up the amp” in pink lipsticks, doing away with the prissy, frilly pinks with four kind of really in-your-face “rebellious” pinks, which they call “runway-ready pink shades.” There are four pinks: POW 1, POW 2, POW 3, and POW 4. POW 1 and POW 3 and blue-based, cool pinks. POW 2 and POW 4 are warmer pinks, with POW 4 being the most coral-y of them all. All are pretty bright. If you know me, I can’t handle bright lipsticks on my visage (lol), but you know …

Boys Don’t Cry

Say hello to Boys Don’t Cry—another kinda impulse, kinda not buy from NARS. I’ve been eyeing this blush since the collection came out, aka Summer 2013, aka almost an entire year if not more. I remember falling in love with it online and swatching it every time I pass by NARS, just because I didn’t need any more blush. Especially not 13g more blush… But, what can I say? I got caught at a weak moment. This is a limited edition blush, so I’m not even sure if it’s still available since it did come out a year ago. The SA claimed that this was the last piece they had in stock (Rustan’s Makati), but she also gave me the wrong brush, so I don’t know if I believe her. More on that later. Boys Don’t Cry is a “High Voltage Blush” and is described as a “pink grapefruit” shade. It is quite a reddish coral with a bit of gold overspray (just at the top, for design). It is also so freaking pretty. In …

Stashed & Forgotten: MAC Powder Blush in Plum Foolery

It’s been a busy few weeks and makeup purchases have been few and far in between, so I’m still in the middle of testing some of them. Here’s an ode to an old blush love, though. Stashed & Forgotten is what I call some old-ish makeup items that I haven’t gotten around to featuring here. Today’s feature is the MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Plum Foolery I only have 3 MAC blushes from their regular range, and I think that this shade Plum Foolery is one of the best. I keep forgetting about it because I stash it in a MAC Large double palette, but I think it’s a great plum blush. Similar to NARS’ Sin, which is one of my favorite NARS shades, Plum Foolery is shot through with some fine, gold shimmer. It adds an overall glowy quality to the blush, so I usually forgo the highlighter. This has more true plum tones than Sin, though, leaning more berry than muted with more pink and warmth than its NARS sister. It is well-pigmented …

Victorian Disco Swatchfest

Ahem, a haul/swatch post. We gotta stop meeting like this. This Victorian Disco order was made back in January. I just got a hold of them last week, oy vey! I took advantage of the “blogger pack” and ordered two to save on shipping. Each pack comes with a mini jar, and 6 samples, I think. I was kindly given two samples by Ashley! Yay! Here are the samples I got. I had ordered Why Does It Have to Be Dragons?, so I have an extra sample. It’s a beautiful rich chocolate brown with some sparkles and slight red tones. Water Siblings is beautiful and I’m glad to have been sent it because I wouldn’t have gotten it myself. It’s a bright pink with a strong violet sheen. In Training is a beautiful cool blackened eggplant shade with a sheen and some silver sparks. Dalek Disco is a toasted brown shot with gold. Spacey Wacey is TARDIS blue with minimal sheen but a smattering of multi-colored sparks. Aura is a really pale pink that’s kind …

Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Correcteur Concealer

Ahhh, another Le Métier de Beauté product again this week. Don’t mind if I do! I received the Peau Vierge Correcteur Concealer in Medium ($95) in my Beauty Vault VIP March box. It’s something I’ve been eyeing for a while now, but never really followed through with, because it’s so damn expensive. Product Description: “This luxuriously creamy concealer has the power to naturally cover flaws as it corrects them. The formula is designed to work like skincare—it encourages collagen production, diminishes the appearance of dark circles, softens lines, blurs blemishes and tightens the look of pores within a week of daily use. Light-diffusing coverage creates a smooth, luminous, undetectable finish. Broad-spectrum SPF 16 protects the skin from damaging UVA/UVB rays.” It only comes in two shades, Fraise/Cool and Medium. Much to the chagrin of my fellow BVV subscribers whose skin colors don’t fit in that spectrum. I think it’s kind of weird that LMdB has been sending complexion products (the Face Kaleidoscope, this concealer and the powder in April), when they have specifically stated they …
