Barely any base: BECCA Backlight Priming Filter

So, a few days ago, I led a customer into a fitting room and she took the time to pause and tell me that my skin looked really great. Obviously, I beamed… some more, ha. I’ve been too lazy to wear any type of base, especially during the summer when my skin went very tan and nothing I had matched me. Anyway, I thought I’d share the base combo I was wearing that day, since I did wear something new that I felt helped give me a little facelift. I picked up a travel size of the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter at SpaceNK¹ for… uh, reasons. I think I wanted a bit more glowy-ness, but having tried the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector (in Opal!), I wanted something more subtle. I figured that “primer” meant it was meant to use under makeup or alone (I was right — but yes, I could have read the instructions). The product is much more watery than the Shimmering Skin Perfector, and I don’t have mine with me at the …

FOTD: Layered Mascara & a Neutral Lip

Here’s a recent FOTD~ using a bunch of new-ish and old products! My sister said these photos made me look unapproachable; I on the other hand thought that I looked nice, lol. It’s a pretty simple smoky eye. My default has been to use the Le Métier de Beauté Kaleidoscope Eye Kit in Gravité, for a dark and subtle smoky eye for the daytime. I just layered each tier over the Le Métier de Beauté Dualistic Eye Pencil in Tamarack, lined my upper lash line, and loaded up on the mascara. I also used Le Métier de Beauté True Colour Eye Shadow in Naked on the brow bone for some highlight and a soft transition. Speaking of mascara, here’s my arsenal: Maybelline The Hypercurl Mascara* topped with Fairy Drops Volume Burst on curled upper lashes, and the Le Métier de Beauté Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Noir on the bottom lashes. I usually just use the last one on a daily basis since it looks natural but also adds ample definition. I used Tom Ford Cheek …

BECCA Beach Tint in Grapefruit, plus a review revisit

Today, I’ll be talking about the BECCA Beach Tint that came in the “Best of BECCA” set I ordered a few weeks ago. If you’re new here, BECCA Beach Tints are one of BECCA’s cult products and a personal favorite of mine. Beach Tints are “water-resistant colours for cheeks and lips.” As with most multi-purpose products, I prefer this using this for one purpose, and in this case, it is a much better cheek product than a lip product. The first one I purchased is called Raspberry, and I loved it so much, I got another one, Guava. The one that came in the set is called Grapefruit, and it’s the one on the right, which is similar to Guava, but more orange than Guava’s coral pink. It’s not extremely pigmented, and I honestly wasn’t expecting much mileage or use out of this because on the hand, it looks really blah. I didn’t want to get my hopes up, I suppose, is what I’m saying. However! When I put it on my cheeks, it gives …

Flawless Face Complexion (Sort of.)

Hey everyone! Today, I have a video on how I make my version of a flawless face complexion. This was requested by reader, Amy, and you know me. I oblige too much. Just kidding. 🙂 Anyway, I say that this is my version because I very rarely wear full-coverage makeup and I don’t personally like the look of it on me. This seems long-winded and unnecessary, but I promise that it’s not! I use pretty standard products—which I will get into in a bit—and the look is pretty natural and not too “done.” There is an attractiveness to “undone-ness,” let us remember that! The video is helpful because I do it in order, and I show, a little of how to apply each step. 🙂 If you want to learn more about the products, then read on.

Quickie: BECCA Beach Tint in Guava

I recently acquired the BECCA Beach Tint in Guava from my Tita Betchay who lives in Sydney. The BECCA Beach Tint is a multi-purpose, water-resistant color for your cheeks and lips. For a more in-depth look at the Beach Tints, check out my review on it in the shade Raspberry here. Guava is a brighter, more summery color that gives your cheeks a subtle wash of color. It’s a bright coral pink that brightens up the face and adds just the right amount of color for a flush without a dramatic pop. Raspberry is a deep berry pink that adds a cool flush, while Guava is a pinky coral that warms up the face. I don’t know if geography has anything to do with it (the Raspberry pic was taken in cold Japan in the springtime, while the Guava one was taken in Manila post-summer), but I do feel like grabbing Guava more often in the coming days. I also would like to point out that these are pretty much indispensable these days, especially for …

BECCA Beach Tint in Raspberry

The BECCA Beach Tint is quite an expensive find, but one that I’ve been looking for for so long. I went to Adora to pick one of these beach tints up, but after purchase I found out that the mark-up was nearly double the original price. I would love to buy more of these, but I might have better luck online, since the price mark-up is so high and that’s the only retailer I know in Manila that carries the brand. However, after everything that’s been said, I highly recommended the Beach Tint and I don’t regret this purchase. I haven’t extensively used this until I went to Japan on vacation. I wanted to keep my makeup bag light and portable and I succeeded, somewhat. I wanted to bring this because it is a multi-purpose product, for use on the lips and cheeks. It is also supposedly waterproof (which explains the name). It was when I was on vacation that I appreciated the versatility, ease of use, and overall greatness of this product. I got …
