Beauty Dare: 20 Days of Lipstick

Happy Monday, everyone! Just checking in to say that I will be on a self-imposed beauty dare for the month of June, inspired by the Lipstick Challenge by Caroline over at A Cup of Jo, where someone wore a different lipstick everyday, and by my own experience with the hot pink lips in this Maybelline review. I shall skip the weekends and provide 5-day recaps on Sunday. 🙂 I think this is helpful if you are like me, a person who tends to stick to the same old lipstick colors (muted! MLBB!) even when I have a shit ton of others. I feel like sometimes we tend to say that a lipstick shade “doesn’t suit us” but really, we’re just not used to seeing it on our face. So for 20 days out of the 30 in June, I’ll be wearing non-nude lips, and then I’ve got the weekends off to go to town on my MLBB shades, lol. Feel free to go on this challenge with me! 3 Product Face: An Experiment

I first saw the 3 Product Face on Shari’s blog, but prior to that, I did a 4 Product Face. I think that we do these challenges to prove to everyone that we CAN SO live with the bare minimum, we just want a bit of fun! Then again, it could just be that so many people right now are in way too much of a hurry. Anyway, this is what I came up with. Initially, I wanted to use eyeshadow or a liner, but I opted for a base instead. As much as I love this Graymelin CC Base Cream*, I think I made a mistake! You’ll see why in a bit. Instead of eyeliner, I opted to use mascara. Everyone yammers on about how that and a bold lip are all you need to look polished so I wanted to test that theory with the Le Métier de Beauté Anamorphic Lash Mascara, which I don’t reach for for volume… but one that I feel most comfortable wearing. Hands On: Hands Only Makeup Look

Who needs brushes when you have hands? I was thinking of a “challenge” for myself that I could do and I thought about going tool-less for a full face of makeup, which seems timely since I dropped quite a bit of cash on some brushes recently. I enjoy great tools, but it doesn’t mean that you are essentially powerless if you don’t have high-end brushes or eyelash curlers. This is a pretty simple look I came up with, applied using only my hands, and I think it looks quite good. 🙂 At the very least, it’s functional for everyday. All hands on deck! Mineral Madness Day 1: Star-Crossed Baker’s Boy

This is the first look I came up with, but I wore it about a week ago. This was taken about eight hours after I had put it on. The eye look is holding up nicely, but I can’t say the same for my foundation! I have a bit of redness peeking through. Also, my lipstick is completely gone. Here’s what it looked like when I first applied it. I couldn’t find decent full-face pictures that I wanted to post and show you. And after eight hours… On my eyes, I used MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study as the base, then used Shiro Cosmetics’s Baker’s Boy as the lid wash/color and Star-Crossed on the outer corner/crease. Both are from the Hunger Games Collection. I used a RealTechniques Domed Eyeshadow Brush from the Travel Essentials Set to apply both colors. I used a K-Palette Liquid Liner on my lash line, MAC eye kohl in Teddy for the outer half of my lower lash line, and Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara on my top and bottom …

Mineral Madness: A 7-Day Challenge

Hey everyone! So. Mineral makeup. Do you like it or do you stay away from it? I fancy myself a mineral makeup lover, but we all know that while that may be true, I don’t really use the stuff enough. I’ve inexplicably accumulated a lot of colors, though. So! In an attempt to at least use a portion of my mineral eyeshadows, I’ve decided to do a mineral eyeshadow challenge in which I use just those for a week! I was thinking of doing a 52-Look Challenge, where I make a mineral makeup look at least once a week for a year, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself. Let’s see if I can do this first. 🙂 I thought about not showing my mineral eyeshadows because it’s a little embarrassing, but in the interest of transparency and honesty, here is the mother lode, complete with a nosy puppy: Not the most ideal storage “solution,” but I don’t exactly have a lot of space. Here’s a very quick and basic day look that you can throw on easily, and with only 4 products! It’s very light and ideal for when you wake up late, or if you don’t necessarily want to bring a whole lot of products along with you on a holiday.
