Slap Dash: An FOTD and some tips on putting makeup in the car

Here’s a quick-ish FOTD that I came up with in the car, on the way to a doctor’s appointment and a whole day out. Eyes: MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist, a bunch of Inglot Eyeshadows that barely showed up, K-Palette Real Lasting Liquid Eyeliner in 01, Le Métier de Beauté Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Noir. Eyebrows: Graymelin Seven Tatto Eyebrow in Dark Brown, The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit in 02. Face/Base: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Mood Light. Cheeks: Le Métier de Beauté Kaleidoscope Face Kit in Cheeky Chic Lips: Hourglass Femme Rouge Lipstick in Fresco Way too much work—and product— went into this look, and you can’t even see it. Which made me want to draw up some tips on putting together a face when you’re in a hurry and only have your time in the car/on your commute to put together a presentable face. Here’s what I’d do instead: EYES: Use a cream shadow (that doesn’t crease) and a pencil liner, since it’s easier to do a smudge-y line. One color …

FOTD: Layered Mascara & a Neutral Lip

Here’s a recent FOTD~ using a bunch of new-ish and old products! My sister said these photos made me look unapproachable; I on the other hand thought that I looked nice, lol. It’s a pretty simple smoky eye. My default has been to use the Le Métier de Beauté Kaleidoscope Eye Kit in Gravité, for a dark and subtle smoky eye for the daytime. I just layered each tier over the Le Métier de Beauté Dualistic Eye Pencil in Tamarack, lined my upper lash line, and loaded up on the mascara. I also used Le Métier de Beauté True Colour Eye Shadow in Naked on the brow bone for some highlight and a soft transition. Speaking of mascara, here’s my arsenal: Maybelline The Hypercurl Mascara* topped with Fairy Drops Volume Burst on curled upper lashes, and the Le Métier de Beauté Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Noir on the bottom lashes. I usually just use the last one on a daily basis since it looks natural but also adds ample definition. I used Tom Ford Cheek …

FOTD: Golden Brown and Toasted

Today’s post is just a quick Face of the Day featuring the Urban Decay Naked Palette. After deciding not to purchase the Naked 3 (for now, for hoarding avoidance), I picked up the original Naked Palette and decided to play around with it. Sometimes, I find it absolutely genius. Other times, I find it quite uninspiring. I think this is a great natural look, though I do find that some of the Naked shadows to be a bit too frosty for my liking. I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze as a base. I applied it with my finger all over my mobile lid, blended upward around the crease. I used Buck as a transition shade (applied on crease and blended out), patted on Dark Horse on the outer third and blended into Smog which I patted on the inner half. My inner corner highlight is Sin. On my lower lash line, I smudged on Dark Horse (outer half) and Toasted (inner half). For definition, I added Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl …

A Super Easy, Fuss-Free Face

Here’s a super easy, 7 product face that looks pretty polished. At least, that’s what it looks like to me. If you’re new to makeup, this is a pretty easy makeup look to do. The eye makeup, particularly, doesn’t need much work. The only tools I used were an eyelash curler and a kabuki brush for the foundation. I applied a MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist on the mobile lid up to the crease, blending outward, with my ring finger. Then I bring what’s left of it on my finger and run it along my lower lash line for some depth. Then, I smudged a MAC Eye Kohl in Prunella on my upper lash line and (very lightly) on the outer half of my lower lash line. I curled my lashes and applied Maybelline The HyperCurl Mascara on my top and bottom lashes. Eyebrows courtesy of K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow 24H, and my face base is the Ellana Minerals Loose Mineral Powder Foundation in Caramel Latte. I applied NARS Blush in Orgasm lightly on my …

Haircut + some FOTDs

Hello! I just wanted to share my haircut with y’all. I got a haircut last Saturday and it’s pretty different from my usual lump of hair—I got bangs and layers! :0 As it happens, I have a bunch of reviews and posts queued up here so you might see some old Carina haircut photos popping up here and there. BUT here is my head as of now:

Mineral Madness Day 7: Hope for Taupe under the Coconut Palms

For the last day of Mineral Madness, I have a super simple eye look using a pink, sparkly eyeshadow from bareMinerals called Hope. I learned a trick from Patricia Lee of shu uemura for using pink eyeshadow. When you balance it with browns, you lessen the risk of looking like you are sickly or have pink eye. For this look, I put Hope on the inner half of the lid, the other half of which I patted on Coconut Palms. On the crease, I blended in Velvet Taupe, which was from A Vision in Velvet. Hope you enjoyed this series! Watch out for my “tips & tricks” later today. Stay tuned for another round of Mineral Madness in the future. 🙂

Mineral Madness Day 4: Nestyr Lingered in Twilight Mist

We made it to Day 4 of Mineral Madness, where I take on the challenge to try to make 7 eye looks with mineral eyeshadow! To address some questions: — nope, I am not using any other mineral makeup besides eyeshadow — BUT, a mineral makeup foundation, etc. post is in the works — a rough guide for mineral n00bs is also in the works, as you guys had some questions for me in the comments — also, I may post more looks but perhaps in the next month or much later For Day 4, I decided to do a very soft look using three eyeshadows, two from Shiro Cosmetics and one from the bareMinerals holiday set, A Vision in Velvet. Here is what I came up with: I made a soft crease gradient with bM’s Satin Mist, which is a sort of light silver grey, with very slight, imperceptible shimmer. It’s pretty matte, actually. Then I patted on Nestyr on the inner two-thirds of my eye. Lingered in Twilight was blended into Nestyr from …
