Too Cool for School Hot Girl Lip Sticker in Pink Moon*

I received this new lipstick from Too Cool for School’s Hot Girl Lip Sticker line a few weeks ago! Pink Moon* is a violently bright shade that I don’t see myself wearing often, but it’s an otherwise great statement pink if you want to go bold. The Hot Girl Lip Sticker claims long wear (“adheres to skin & remains long vividly”), “healthy and resilient lips” c/o jojoba oil, smooth and “energetic” color/application, all in an itty-bitty portable size! The lipstick itself is pretty small, especially when you compare it to the standard size of lipsticks, but it does pack quite a punch. It’s a little too bright for me right now. I went to the beach last week (which explains my absence, I hope) and you guys, I fried like an egg. I am burnt to a crisp! And I really, really don’t want to go back to my ~natural~ skin color, even though the only foundation I can wear right now is my MAKE Soft Focus one, and that’s because I bought that one …

Two for the Show

I don’t know about you, but nights out strike fear into the part of my heart that gives a shit about how I look. I don’t usually glam up when there’s a special occasion because I don’t like drawing attention to myself, but if you need a quick face upgrade—just so people think you actually made an effort—here are two MAKE items worth looking into. The MAKE Custom Effects in Matte/Dew is a small compact that’s easily tucked into your clutch or handbag. It’s got one side to mattify your face, and another to add a little bit of dewiness. The products are more on the cream side—definitely not a powder—with the matte side similar to the feel of a silicone primer, and the dewy side similar to a really hard balm. It doesn’t catch the light the way highlighters do, but it gives your face a healthy-looking dewiness. The effect is a less-shiny, more glowy version of you! Everyone loves a red lip, and when you’re out of options and time, the MAKE Silk …

ColourPop Lippie Stix Feminist Lumière

ColourPop Lippie Stix: Feminist & Lumière

I got two of the ColourPop Lippie Stix to try over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, namely Feminist and Lumière. I’ve been seeing this brand all over the Internet, mainly YouTube, and you know I can’t resist a hype, especially if it comes with a $5 price tag. Everything ColourPop sells is priced at $5 each, though from what I understand, they contain considerably less product than usual (e.g. the Lippie Stix have 1.5g and the MAC lipsticks have 3g).

Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in Cava

The Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in Cava was pretty much an impulse buy from a Sephora VIB sale. I wanted a new shade off of the Bite Beauty line—from any range at all!—but everything didn’t look appealing enough. Until Cava. Admittedly, it is a really strange shade. Sephora describes it as a “lilac beige,” and I can definitely see that definition working because all I have in my head right now is “mauve, mauve, mauve!” As part of the Luminous Crème Lipstick line, Cava is supposed to be a “lush, long-lasting, moisture-rich lip color.” (It is.) Funnily enough, I have a lip mini with 2 LCL shades that are also on a nuder side of the spectrum, if you will. Because the color is so strange, in the best possible way, Cava is a little tricky to wear. If you don’t play up your eyes enough, there is a tendency for it to pull out the deadness in your face. When paired with the right look, though, this color soars to great heights. I …

New on my radar: ColourPop

I first learned of ColourPop from Victoria and a binge-watch of Kathleen Lights‘ videos nearly pushed me over the edge for their products. Their range is pretty modest: eyeshadows, lipsticks, and lip pencils. All at $5 each! They were met with super rave reviews, and since I saw some lip shades I wanted from their offerings, I thought I’d try out a few. I practically lunged at these babies during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday special. I restrained myself and got 2 shades of the Lippie Stix (ugh, this name!) and a limited edition collection of their Super Shock Shadows called Not a Box of Chocolates.

Lip Service from Étude House

Étude House is one of the first Korean brands I was introduced to, the other one being The Face Shop. The branding is very girly and princessy—something I don’t usually gravitate to, but I heard a lot of good things about their Play 101 Pencil range. Unfortunately, I was so overwhelmed by the sheer number of shades, I ended up with only two lip-friendly shades, both in the “glossy” finish. source They used shades 54 and 55 on the “looks” I saw by the display and I loved how both looked so much. I think these are new colors from their holiday release. 🙂 It was so hard to move around the stores because they were always so full of people, but now that I can see the colors from the Play 101 line, I kind of really want all of them. Because I’m crazy.

A Convergence of Purples

Once upon a time, I convinced myself that I would never look good in purple lipstick, and that I would never, ever want to wear it, ever. Somehow, I got it into my head that all purple lips did to people was make them look witchy. Well. Times have changed. Here are various types of purples, some leaning more pink or red or blue than others, but all are—to me—purple, as far as colors go. (Don’t mind Sad Keanu in that clam shell… it looks gross, but it’s fine.)
