The NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils aren’t really new to me, but now I’ve got this shade, Train Bleu to add to my meager collection of three. Prior to Train Bleu, I already had Bahama, Dolce Vita, and Damned, and I absolutely loved the formula of these. They are, as the name suggests, quite matte and it can feel a little drying on the lips. These will emphasize dry areas on your lips, so just a caveat.
So, I eventually broke and purchased a few items—two of them, rather thoughtlessly, I think—and I guess these are my makeup items for January-March 2015. Not to confuse you, but I made a deal with myself to buy 1 makeup item per month in 2015. In an effort to curb my makeup shopping. Obviously, it’s worked but I’m kicking myself in the face, haha. I’m not one to layer my lip colors all that much, which explains why glosses and liners get little love from me. I think I’m just lazy that way, a grab-and-go kinda girl, I guess. However, I have been trying to make not-so-perfect lip shades work better for me with the power of layering.
Sometimes I feel like my compulsion to shop is just that: a compulsion. I don’t need any other makeup thing, to tell you the truth. After I’ve filled my virtual cart with the things I think I need, I click out of the window and look through my stuff. I have a six-slot lipstick holder on my desk and I’ve taken to switching out lipsticks from my considerably bigger case in my big drawer to these slots so I can concentrate on my chosen ones. For April, these are the lipsticks that I’ve chosen.
Quick post of an FOTD, in which I had to force myself to wear a non-neutral lip and not regret it. (It worked out okay.) I was also watching a video on highlighters the night before and it made me really want to break out my BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector again, so I did.
Hello! Long time no see. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but it’s been a while since I posted a new look/FOTD. It’s been a bit quiet on the makeup front over here, but mainly because I’ve really been taking care of so many other things. I hope y’all still remember me! /end dramatics Here’s a New Old Face face that I wore today. 🙂 It’s been similar to what I’ve been wearing the past few weeks, though I’ve only decided to wear more of my bold lip colors… pretty much now.
Quick update on the makeup-buying front: I’ve been purchase free in 2015! Yay. I set a one-item-a-month limit for myself this year, but I have yet to buy anything. 🙂 I’ve got my eye on a few palettes—predictably—but seeing as I have way too many already, I haven’t had any desire to actually spring for any of them. /pats self on the back. Seeing as I haven’t been buying anything new, I’ve begun digging around my current makeup ~collection~ (this word really makes me cringe), and I discovered some forgotten gems that I’ve been enjoying using lately! Here’s the first installment of “Recent Rediscoveries,” which is basically just me remembering awesome things that I’ve forgotten due to over-buying makeup. Oops.
