20 Days of Lipstick: Week 4 Recap

And the last week of 20 Days of Lipstick is late and ends on a Tuesday. Mostly because I didn’t want to extend it for another week (i.e. prolong the recap and post next Sunday), just because I ran out of days for lipstick-wearing. Anyway, ahem. DAY FIFTEEN feat. Le Métier de Beauté Hydra-Crème Lipstick in Signature I got this in the first Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP box, when they had yet to launch the Hydra-Crème line, and I would never have picked this for myself. Mostly because I don’t believe that reds look all that good on me. I’m glad I got this, though, because I think it might be my favorite “real” red (in case Guerlain’s Orgueil is too purple to count for all y’all. The formula is fantastic, too, if anyone was wondering. Especially for a matte lipstick! I forgot how much I loved this one, to be honest.

Lazy Girl Makeup: Quickly

A look for all y’all who need to get out of the door quickly! Here’s the look, with my old hair, still: It’s pretty basic and safe-ish, but passably put-together if I may say so myself. I don’t tend to fuss too much with base/complexion products when I’m in a hurry, but on a real bad skin day, I will pick up a concealer and target problem spots and areas. Here’s a video in which I talk a bit more about the products and show you how I use them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmmhNf9KP0Q Products Mentioned: — NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Ginger) — Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (shown: Luminous Light) — K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow 24H (02) — MAC Paint Pot (shown: Constructivist) — MAC Eye Kohl (shown: Prunella. Teddy) — Illamasqua Cream Blusher (shown: Dixie) — BECCA Beach Tints (shown: Raspberry) — Addiction by Ayako Cheek Sticks (shown: Revenge) — NARS Pure Matte Lipstick (Montego Bay) What are your go-tos for a quick makeup look? 🙂 Follow me: Bloglovin' • Twitter • Instagram • YouTube • Facebook

Lazy Girl Makeup: Day to Night Using MAC Mythology

Ever since I posted my first Lazy Girl Makeup post, I’ve been wanting to make a new one. Alas, I had been too lazy to actually make the posts. Here’s a pretty easy Day to Night look that centers on only three MAC eyeshadows: All That Glitters, Sketch, and Mythology. I actually used one more—Smut—but only as a really subtle wing for the Day Look. Speaking of which, here’s the Day Look: I’ve got All That Glitters all over the lid with a bit of Sketch lightly buffed into the outer corner of the lid and the outer 1/4 of the lower lash line. Like i said, I used Smut on the upper lash line for a little definition. Rest of the makeup: The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit (02) for brows, MAX Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara*, MAC Blush (Springsheen), MAC Lustre Lipstick (See Sheer) lightly dabbed on lips. I had a completely different thing I had in mind for a Day to Night look, but I saw this look by Karima of Shameless …

20 Days of Lipstick: Week 2 Recap

Yay, here’s Week 2 of my Beauty Dare to wear 20 different lipsticks in a month, in an effort to stay away from the neutrals and MLBBs I always reach for and to keep my lipsticks in a healthy rotation. If you missed the Week 1 Recap, it’s here. DAY SIX feat. MAC Creamsheen Lipstick in Ravishing I love this color, but I hate this formula, which is probably why I don’t wear this shade that often. It’s just heavy and icky, but the color is just fantastic, I think.

Stashed & Forgotten: MAC Powder Blush in Plum Foolery

It’s been a busy few weeks and makeup purchases have been few and far in between, so I’m still in the middle of testing some of them. Here’s an ode to an old blush love, though. Stashed & Forgotten is what I call some old-ish makeup items that I haven’t gotten around to featuring here. Today’s feature is the MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Plum Foolery I only have 3 MAC blushes from their regular range, and I think that this shade Plum Foolery is one of the best. I keep forgetting about it because I stash it in a MAC Large double palette, but I think it’s a great plum blush. Similar to NARS’ Sin, which is one of my favorite NARS shades, Plum Foolery is shot through with some fine, gold shimmer. It adds an overall glowy quality to the blush, so I usually forgo the highlighter. This has more true plum tones than Sin, though, leaning more berry than muted with more pink and warmth than its NARS sister. It is well-pigmented …

Summer Babe: Lips

“Summer Babe” is a song by Pavement and it has nothing to do with this post. (Sorry.) OK, it has marginal relation, and that is—the summer time! Here are a few lip colors that I think you should try wearing during the hot summer months. I don’t know about you, but I am rather uncharacteristically being drawn to brights and semi-bright-ish lip colors. Picking a coral or an orange lip gives me unexpected exhilaration. Strange, but true. Four lip colors in my rotation are Le Métier de Beauté Color Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Riviera, MAC Satin Lipstick in Betty Bright, 3CE Lip Lacquer in Pink Boom*, and Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance Lipstick in Bold. I have a few lipsticks that I’m taking out for a spin this season, but these represent the spectrum of shades pretty well. — Le Métier de Beauté Color Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Riviera: warm, orange-based red — MAC Satin Lipstick in Betty Bright: bright, light pinky coral — 3CE Lip Lacquer in Pink Boom: neon pink — Tarte …

(Another) No Makeup Makeup Look: Bright Eyes

“No makeup” makeup has a strong presence in the beauty world, and the opinion on this is split into two factions: the people who appreciate and love it and the people who don’t see the point. Over the last few months, I’ve gotten several anonymous comments about how my makeup is being “wasted” and is useless because you can’t detect it on my face. (That’s a whole other story.) I’m personally a fan of the no makeup makeup look. There’s nothing wrong with enhancing your features and going for subtlety. Understated is good. Plus, there are actually people who can’t wear wild makeup looks to work. I am not one of those people, but I still dig these looks. Also, I don’t really feel comfortable with the thought of someone actually being able to see foundation, etc. on my face. Why on earth would you want that? I would not wish that upon the most annoying of the people I am annoyed at. I don’t really have evil foes.
