Mineral Madness Day 7: Hope for Taupe under the Coconut Palms

For the last day of Mineral Madness, I have a super simple eye look using a pink, sparkly eyeshadow from bareMinerals called Hope. I learned a trick from Patricia Lee of shu uemura for using pink eyeshadow. When you balance it with browns, you lessen the risk of looking like you are sickly or have pink eye. For this look, I put Hope on the inner half of the lid, the other half of which I patted on Coconut Palms. On the crease, I blended in Velvet Taupe, which was from A Vision in Velvet. Hope you enjoyed this series! Watch out for my “tips & tricks” later today. Stay tuned for another round of Mineral Madness in the future. 🙂

Mineral Madness Day 6: Charcoal TARDIS on the Nude Beach

Welcome to Day 6 of Mineral Madness, and today, I have dared to venture into the world of bright blue eyeshadow! If you want to see a true blue swatch, check my haul post. As far as this look goes, however, I decided to take a more toned down route, as usual. I started by patting on a Shiro Cosmetics shade, TARDIS, on the outer 2/3 of the lid. With bareMinerals’ Nude Beach, I blended out the blue edge towards the inner corner. On the crease, I applied Velvet Charcoal from bareMinerals’ A Vision in Velvet holiday set. And that’s pretty much it! 🙂 Easy peasy. I used goat hair brushes for this look which throws away the theory I had that synthetic bristles applied mineral eyeshadow better. On my cheeks, I have Shiseido’s Luminizing Satin Face Color in RS 302, I think. On my lips, I have a NYX Round Lipstick in Peony. Then I just did my brows, business as usual; on my face I have a layer of bareMinerals’ Mineral Veil. That’s …

Mineral Madness Day 5: When the Thrush Knocks, It’s Gonna Be MAY!

I know I missed several days for this challenge, but work and life have both been very busy. I have a few posts lined up, but no pictures, really, for some of them. I’ve especially slacked off on these mineral makeup looks, so sorry about that! I wore this one a few days ago, though. I used When the Thrush Knocks and It’s Gonna Be MAY! by Shiro Cosmetics. I know you can’t see it very well so I’ll update this post when I get a better picture of it, because it’s rather pretty 🙂 UPDATE: I recreated the look and took pictures to give you a better idea of what the look was. In this version, I packed on more of When the Thrush Knocks and lined my eyes with MAC’s Prunella instead of Teddy. I think it looks similar to Mineral Madness Day 2’s look. Which I am not totally a fan of. Next time, I won’t pack on so much of the goldy color, I think. 🙂 In case you were interested, …

Mineral Madness Day 4: Nestyr Lingered in Twilight Mist

We made it to Day 4 of Mineral Madness, where I take on the challenge to try to make 7 eye looks with mineral eyeshadow! To address some questions: — nope, I am not using any other mineral makeup besides eyeshadow — BUT, a mineral makeup foundation, etc. post is in the works — a rough guide for mineral n00bs is also in the works, as you guys had some questions for me in the comments — also, I may post more looks but perhaps in the next month or much later For Day 4, I decided to do a very soft look using three eyeshadows, two from Shiro Cosmetics and one from the bareMinerals holiday set, A Vision in Velvet. Here is what I came up with: I made a soft crease gradient with bM’s Satin Mist, which is a sort of light silver grey, with very slight, imperceptible shimmer. It’s pretty matte, actually. Then I patted on Nestyr on the inner two-thirds of my eye. Lingered in Twilight was blended into Nestyr from …

Mineral Madness Day 3: Plums & Hyacinths

For Day 3 of Mineral Madness, where I force myself to use my mineral eyeshadows, I have here a fairly purple look anchored on the very beautiful shimmery lilac by bareMinerals called Hyacinth. Not wanting to take away from the general prettiness of this color, I just used Satin Plum, also from bareMinerals. It is a fairly matte color so I used it in the outer corner of the eye, as well as on the outer crease. I added an eye kohl to my lower lash line, too. It’s MAC’s Prunella. I like it, though I feel like I should have used a deeper neutral like a dark brown instead of another purple. As it is, this has a very 90s feel to it; I can’t put my finger on it, but it may be the general cool lightness of the shadow paired with a milky lip, which makes me think of the frosted lipsticks of the past. I could just be making all of that up, though. (‘Scuse the spots, I didn’t feel like …

Mineral Madness Day 2: The Hum of an Espresso Rebellion

This is a mouthful… but I tried. Anyway, this look features some of my favorite colors from three different brands! I’ve got Hum on the inner two-thirds of my eye, which is an LCC or loose color concentrate by OCC. Then, on the crease and outer corner, I have Velvet Espresso, which is an LE color from bareMinerals’ holiday set, A Vision in Velvet. Finally, I deepened the outer corner with Rebellion from Shiro Cosmetics. Truthfully, I don’t really like it. Although, I think it’s pretty cool how much it seems to change with just a quick replacement of the lip color. It’s a pretty easy look, and actually fairly colorful given the combinations I normally wear. This color by OCC is also really, really pretty. Semi-review coming up soon. I actually have a haul/short review post on my first OCC purchases from March or something. I just never got around to actually finishing the post. But it shall be done. Anyway, that’s mostly it! I hope you enjoyed this post. I’m having fun playing …

Mineral Madness Day 1: Star-Crossed Baker’s Boy

This is the first look I came up with, but I wore it about a week ago. This was taken about eight hours after I had put it on. The eye look is holding up nicely, but I can’t say the same for my foundation! I have a bit of redness peeking through. Also, my lipstick is completely gone. Here’s what it looked like when I first applied it. I couldn’t find decent full-face pictures that I wanted to post and show you. And after eight hours… On my eyes, I used MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study as the base, then used Shiro Cosmetics’s Baker’s Boy as the lid wash/color and Star-Crossed on the outer corner/crease. Both are from the Hunger Games Collection. I used a RealTechniques Domed Eyeshadow Brush from the Travel Essentials Set to apply both colors. I used a K-Palette Liquid Liner on my lash line, MAC eye kohl in Teddy for the outer half of my lower lash line, and Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara on my top and bottom …
