Quickie: shu uemura Tsuya Skin Youth-Infusing Eye Concentrate

Let’s talk a bit about skin care, shall we? I wasn’t really particular with any anti-aging regimes and procedures. I just wanted my skin to be clear and mostly clean. That is, until recently. I’ve been trying to reverse the formation of wrinkles near my eyebags, because that’s where they seem to have congregated. I haven’t really been so invested in it that I’d get myself an eye cream, but when my mom went to shu uemura to replenish her Tsuya serum, we just couldn’t ignore the big advertisement for the eye concentrate. Born from the TSUYA skincare series, TSUYA skin youth infusing eye concentrate switches on a new dimension to eyes, combating factors behind “small eye impression,” which are caused by loss of elasticity in the eyelid area, drooping eyelashes and dark circles. Exploring the innermost workings of skin, TSUYA skin youth infusing eye concentrate, which not only targets the traditional signs of aging but also delivers the impression of bigger eyes and lifted lashes for stunning eyes and instant eye shadow payoff effects. …

Empties No. 1

Hello everyone! This is my first empties post, and it’s quite sizeable. It’s mostly skin care and bath stuff, though, so if you are looking for makeup empties, feel free to skip on this! — Maybelline The Falsies Mascara: It was time to throw it out as I stretched it to 6 months, like a Josie Gross-y. I really liked this mascara, but I won’t be repurchasing as it’s not cruelty-free. — Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer: Throwing it out because it has become too tacky for me to work with. I won’t be repurchasing as I prefer other eye primers.

Quickie: Physiogel Hypoallergenic Intensive Cream*

Here’s a quick review on the Physiogel Hypoallergenic Intensive Cream* which I got from a BDJ Box (May, I think!). I mistakenly thought this was a facial moisturizer, but it turns out, it’s a moisturizer for all over, for sensitive skin! I’ve used this for about seven days straight, once in the morning and once at night, and I still have about half the tube full. I think that’s a bit too fast to go through a product, but considering it’s a body product, maybe that’s to be expected. In any case, the cream itself is very thick and a bit hard to blend out. It makes you use more product to cover more surface area. The cream itself doesn’t really sink in and I leave greasy marks (eee) on some surfaces like my cousin’s leather-ish dining chair. Le sigh. As for effectivity, though, I would say it was decent at moisturizing, though it left a sort of sheen (grease!) on my skin, most notably my legs. It’s not a miracle product, but if you …

Deep Clean Detox: Aesop’s Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque & Antioxidant Serum

The first Aesop product I used was the Parsley Seed Antioxidant Serum and it was a great product, though nothing really exceptional in my opinion. I bought this, the Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque, a few months later when I spotted it in Japan. I was so happy! When I first used it, I didn’t notice anything drastic, so I didn’t really incorporate it in my regular routine. It wasn’t until I started getting tiny pimple breakouts (as in, a smattering of literal tiny pimples) that I began to see a difference. After using this mask—or lol, should I say masque?—I noticed a significant change in the clarity of my skin. My current skin care routine does keep the pimples at bay, but I owe it to this mask for getting rid of the plague of little dots on my face, particularly situated around my forehead area. If you’re unfamiliar with masks, you just basically use them every couple of days, or even weeks. It’s not something you should do everyday, though I can’t really tell …

LUSH Ultrabland Facial Cleanser

If you recall my Going Cruelty-Free post on facial cleansers, I had mentioned I needed to find a good makeup remover replacement since the one I’d been using wasn’t and I was nearly out of it (i.e. Laneige Eye & Lip Waterproof Remover, which is pretty much amazing). I want to thank everyone who left a suggestion. Many of them, I wanted to try but can’t get a hold of here. One of the ones I could get was LUSH’s Ultrabland. Ultrabland is essentially a facial cleanser, though one that is vastly different from the first one I tried, Aqua Marina. Instead of coming from a spongy loaf, like some of their cleansers, Ultrablend is a creamy product that has a nondescript (though a little unpleasant) smell. You take a bit of it and slather it all over your face. I rub away heavier makeup like mascara with the gunk still on my face. Then, instead of washing it off, you take a damp flannel cloth or cotton pad and then wipe the cream—and all …

Cleaning Up My Act: Cruelty-Free Facial Cleansers

I’ve been slowly eliminating non Cruelty-Free products from my daily routine. I started by targeting my makeup, and I think I’ve been doing pretty well, though I’ve had a few slip-ups since making my pledge (I bought Maybelline Color Whispers). I realized that animal testing doesn’t stop at makeup. Facial cleansers are also a part of that. When Wiji pointed out that newer packaging of St. Ives neglected to include “Not Tested on Animals” as it always had, I was compelled to check my skin care, too. Apparently, they were acquired by Unilever, which is a company that tests on animals. I’m currently working through a large bottle of shu uemura’s cleansing oil, which is the best makeup remover I’ve tried, by far. I’m still looking for cruelty-free alternatives, but we have that little bit left from the bottle, as well as a few samples, to tide us over while we look for other makeup removers. Here are cruelty-free facial cleansers I’ve tried so far. Korres Milk Proteins Cleansing & Make-Up Remover Wipes I use …

Unboxing: BDJ Box Elite* (May 2013)

Hello! It’s time once again for a BDJ Box post. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a subscription service in the Philippines. This month, they sent out limited edition “BDJ Box Elite” boxes, which I am verver excited about. This box contains a lot of full-size products, as well as generous samples. None of that sachet nonsense! (JK I am mean, but really, small tubes rock.) The theme is “Summer Indulgence,” and for once I do think it fits the products inside. Instead of the folded-up card that usually comes with the box, the BDJ Elite Box has a collection of small cards that highlight a certain offering they have that month. They’re kind of like playing cards. 🙂 The nifty thing about these new cards is that they show you the original size and price, and the sample size they give and the calculated cost. That way, I don’t have to do any math! Ahava Essential Day Moisturizer — This is supposed to kind of bring out the skin’s natural moisture, and allow …
