FOTD: Olives & Pears

I wore this look recently to a birthday dinner. The pear-like qualities of ColourPop’s Sleigh is a little subtle—it’s described as an “icy sage”—but that’s OK. It lets me wear a pink as bright as Tom Ford’s Flamingo, which is a shade that I’m still not sure why I even bought. Here are swatches of the eyeshadows I used: Swatched, top to bottom: MAKE Khaki*, Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird, ColourPop Sleigh Base/Face Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint (Medium), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (Ethereal Light), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (Mood Exposure) Lips Tom Ford Flamingo: I don’t know, you guys. I just can’t seem to really get into this lip color. I mean, it doesn’t look horrible or too garish, but I think that my aversion to purples and oranges switched on over to bright, medium pinks. I did a desk clear-out of my vanity area and fished out some of the under-appreciated items from the depths of my drawers. Everything I love is lost in drawers, as the song goes. Except Matt Berninger probably didn’t mean makeup. Ahem.

Quick post of an FOTD, in which I had to force myself to wear a non-neutral lip and not regret it. (It worked out okay.) I was also watching a video on highlighters the night before and it made me really want to break out my BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector again, so I did.

New Old Face No. 2

Hello! Long time no see. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but it’s been a while since I posted a new look/FOTD. It’s been a bit quiet on the makeup front over here, but mainly because I’ve really been taking care of so many other things. I hope y’all still remember me! /end dramatics Here’s a New Old Face face that I wore today. 🙂 It’s been similar to what I’ve been wearing the past few weeks, though I’ve only decided to wear more of my bold lip colors… pretty much now.

This was supposed to be a New Old Face post, but I realized that most of these products, I’ve used quite a bit already anyway, there was no “new” factor to it. Anyway, I wore this on our Taiwan trip. I didn’t remember to take many FOTDs, so here’s one I did remember taking, heh. After years of overpacking makeup when I travel, I finally realized that going with a neutral eye is the best way to go. You can pair it with so many things like a bold lip or pops of color, and so on. I didn’t have to powder my face, either. I quite like this base combo! FOTD: Basic Face

My friend Chard’s tweet was about how it was sad that “basic” is now used to mean something negative, and I agree! I, for one, tend to go for mostly basics when it comes to clothes, and though I love colors in my make-up, I tend to reach for my basics the most. Anyway, here’s a basic face for ya. I had to do office stuff + bank stuff, so I obviously wasn’t going to wear vampy~ lips or a smoky eye. Haha. I mean, I could have, but I didn’t. So there.
