Poreless Face Base

I shuffle between products, and it’s always a joy to discover new combinations that become solutions to problems I mysteriously always run into. I’ve been trying to use up some products, so the others I have often get neglected. In this iteration of a face base, I chiefly used three products to blur out the pores on my cheeks. After moisturizing my face, I applied the BECCA Resurfacing Primer, which worked out better than I remembered it to in my original review. I then topped it off with a few layers of Ellana Minerals Loose Powder Foundation in Caramel Latte.* After that, I used the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette, mostly Dim Light on the cheek area as well as my forehead, but I used Incandescent Light to highlight and Radiant light on the outer edges of my cheeks. What is your favorite face base concoction right now? * PR Sample. All the products featured in this post are cruelty-free. Follow me: Bloglovin' • Twitter • Instagram • YouTube • Facebook

Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP February 2014 Box

Yay for a super early February box from the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP Subscription. I kind of explain it a little and gave a 6-month recap over here, but for today, I’ll be showing you what I got for the February box, aka the Valentines one. First up, I have a Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Riviera ($32) which is a very warm, orange-toned red, aka the worst shade you could probably give me. Next, I’ve got two Nail Lacquers in Wango Tango, a punchy coral, and Cocoa Cabana, a creamy café au lait ($18 each). Again, two colors I’m not really interested in. Swatched, L-R: CCMS Lipstick in Riviera, Nail Lacquers in Wango Tango and Cocoa Cabana The lacquer formula is decent, though I wish I had gotten colors that were more up my speed or just ones that went well better. Both are in a nice, creamy formula, though they still don’t trump my favorite lacquer formula, butter London’s. The bottles on these are similar, but the cap/brush of …

5 Things Friday: Sheer Lipstick

In this edition of 5 Things Friday—which I bumped off to make room for some reviews last week—I have my five favorite sheer lipstick formulas, plus a bonus “almost made it in” one! I love sheer lipsticks; they are my first lipstick love. They deposit just the right amount of pigment for some fun and prettiness on your lips, but do without the traditional lipstick feel that deters a lot of people from using lipstick in the first place. They are also super low maintenance, which is always a plus. 1. Lavshuca Dramatic Memory Rouge in RS-01 This is a Japanese drugstore brand that I’m so happy I found on my trip to Osaka last year. This is such a great balmy texture with a sweet berry color, too. As is typical of Japanese lipsticks, this has quite a bit of super fine shimmer in it that translates into a high-shine jelly finish. 2. Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy I think this is my third Chanel lipstick, but the first encounter of their Rouge …

Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP January Box & 6 Month Recap

I have slacked off on Le Métier de Beauté's Beauty Vault VIP posts, having stopped at the January one. Truthfully, I waited a long time before finally picking this up at the mail forwarder. I look for spoilers and when I saw what was in the January box, all desire to retrieve it left me. LOL, a tad bit dramatic, but after such a great run of products, who wouldn't find a single bottle of makeup remover disappointing? January Box The January box came with no information card at all, so it pretty much heightened the feeling of “Is this it?” However, I have to say that I am a fan of bi-phase makeup removers. My favorite is Laneige, but this is really excellent. There was a bit of a kerfuffle with this box, too. A user on the forum I go to (Makeup Talk) found an identical product sans the brand name on Amazon, selling for $29.99 and was on sale for $19.90. This is the response that user LisaLeah got from the LMdB …

January 2014 Favorites

I haven't done these in a while, basically because I don't know if people like them (do you?) but I just wanted to share some of my favorite things during the past month and talk a bit about them and why I liked them so much. I just have a few bits here. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Punjab — I should not even have bought this but I had to know what the big deal was. It turns out, the Internet knows its shit; this was a great purchase. Quite a bit of a splurge, but one that was worth it. Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie in Crushing on You — Pretty much the perfect MLBB in the easiest, fuss-free twistie crayon form. butter London Nail Lacquer in Bossy Boots — Weird that I have a nail color in here, but despite the fact that I only have three other bottles of nail polish, I never tired of this beautiful pale green cream. Mascara in general — I've been trying …

One Week Naked 2: Day 4

Hello everyone! This is the 4th day of my Naked 2 challenge with Natalie. I think she’s working on a night look today, so watch out for that when it goes up on her blog. As for me, I went towards a more rose-gold direction, as I haven’t gotten the chance to get the Naked 3 yet. (On another note, I’m super pleased with the amount of rose-toned eyeshadows that has been popping up lately. Definitely going to be a pretty season.) Without further ado… Day 4’s look! Yay, I like this look a lot! I love you, Naked 2. I put Chopper all over my lid with Tease on my crease and Snakebite on the outer ‘v.’ I didn’t realize that Snakebite had a bit of purple-y undertones.

One Day Naked 2: Day 3

Day 3 of the Naked 2 Challenge, and unlike my week with the original Naked, I don’t feel like I’m stifled by this palette as much. Even though today’s look is super simple (I didn’t even curl my lashes or line my eyes), I really like it! I just have Verve in the inner half of my mobile lid, fading into Busted on the outer half, with the outer corner very slightly deepened by Blackout. For the lower lash line, I have Half Baked smudged all the way through with a bit of Chopper on top of Half Baked on the outer half of the lower lash line. I attempted to line my waterline with Blackout. I wish I took better pictures but I had an avalanche of work-related mishaps, so I couldn’t really take more time to preen in front of a camera, lol.
