Lipstick Week, Day 7: Crushing on Corals

And with this, Lipstick Week will come to a close. Stay tuned for my lipstick collection (gulp) later today, but this is the end for themed lipstick posts for now. For Day 7, I will be talking about some of my favorite corals. Now, it’s a bit hard to define corals, just because a lot of colors can be considered corals. Personally, though, I consider coral to be a balance of either a pink or a red and a muted orange. So, I find that I can find “pinky corals” and “reddish corals,” both of which are just pink and red with a hint of a not-so-bright orange. Does that make sense? Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Favorite. Let’s start with my favorite coral, one that has a fitting name, La Favorite. This definitely leans towards the more pinky coral persuasion, and is one of the brightest lipsticks I feel comfortable wearing. I tend to shy away from corals, because they are usually warm and I don’t like warm colors on my lips because …

Lipstick Week, Day 6: Marvelous Mauves and Perfect Plums

Hi everyone, I’m back today with Day 6 of Lipstick Week, even though I technically skipped Sunday. I’ll be taking a look at mauves and plums today, which is thuper duper exciting. Since as you all probably know, that’s probably my favorite color group. I like a lot of other colors, but this is my favorite collective. I’ll start with my favorite mauves. Mauve is a kind of dusty red violet. Kind of a warmer lavender, with a rosy undertone. That’s how I view mauves, anyway. It’s kind of hard to describe “complex” colors, just because colors seem to depend on people’s own personal views on them, if that makes sense. Le Métier de Beauté Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Bondi Beach. This is probably one of the best mauve shades I know. It doesn’t pull too violet/lavender on me, which I think makes it very wearable. The formula is amazing, too, though I guess I can’t really expect much else from Le Métier de Beauté, which is an amazing brand in general anyway. …

Lipstick Week, Day 4: Go Nude or Go Home

My title sounds like a nicer way of saying “TITS OR GTFO,” but I promise that it’s not! Day 4 is about the perfect nude lip! Sorry for the slight lateness. I usually try to post my posts before noon but I had to do other things today. Still, I made it on time. 🙂 It’s no secret that I very much prefer quiet, unassuming shades to the loud ones. I’ve learned that my Bold Lip BFF is any kind of deep plum, but I don’t think I’ve found my BEST NUDE EVER~ shade quite yet. A nude lip is the perfect companion to a lot of makeup looks, especially if you want to do smokey eyes or anything super colorful. However, finding the right nude lip for you can be quite challenging. Remember my Creamsicle Horror Story? Well, click the link and see for yourself. In my opinion, the perfect nude is not too pink, not too brown, and not too pale. It shouldn’t wash you out and it shouldn’t be so distracting that …

Lipstick Week, Day 3: How to Wear Red Lipstick & Other (Rather Vampy) Alternatives

(This happened because I don’t have red lip liner and I don’t know how to count.) Hello everyone! I just wanted to first say thanks to everyone who’s been interacting with me on my current series, Lipstick Week! I’m trying to switch things up and make things a bit more interesting while featuring as many lipsticks as possible. Once again, thanks to Tellie for tagging me. 🙂 SO. We are at Day 3. I thought I would do this feature now (instead of after my “How to Make Your Lipstick Last Longer” post), just in time for the Manila screening of The Great Gatsby. When I think of the 1920s, I think of luscious jazz parties, flapper dresses and bubbly, fizzy drinks—and of course, red lipstick! I’ll tell you right away—red is not my color. I wish it was. Red lip lovers, like my friends Reggie, Abi, and Krysty, seem to cull some sort of magic confidence elixir from wearing red lipstick. AND I WANT THAT. Alas. I have always shied away from red, even …

Sample Stash Sunday: Addiction by Ayako Tinted Skin Protector

For this week’s edition of Sample Stash Sunday, I have a little packet of Addiction’s Tinted Skin Protector in Tint No. 3. If you’ve just tuned in to this blog, Sample Stash Sunday is a sort of quick, first impressions type of review. It’s also a way for me to get through the numerous samples I’ve acquired, so win-win! The Tinted Skin Protector is basically a foundation that has a) great suns protection, and b) is a primer as well. It’s meant to protect the skin from drying and from UV rays, while also providing even coverage, even over pores. It’s also designed to be light, feel fresh, and wear long. It has: moisturizing ingredients “centifolia rose flower extract” combination. emollient ingredient “Rose hip oil” combination. no fragrance SPF 50/PA+++ So, this little packet right here contains 0.9ml worth of product. It doesn’t seem like a lot, and it didn’t feel like a lot. So, being a dumbass, I assumed it was tinted moisturizer (because I didn’t research before trying) good for one use and …

Let Addiction’s Cheek Stick in Revenge Help You Get Cheeky This Summer

With this post, the Addiction train has finally come to the end. At least, for now. It’s crazy how much I bought from this counter on my trip and how I still feel like I missed out on some good shades or products. I don’t think it points to a hoarder mentality, necessarily—though of course a hoarder in denial would say that. Seriously, though, I think I’ve found another favorite brand. Funnily enough, NARS, which is where Ayako used to work with, has been one of my favorite brands even before I got makeup-crazy. 🙂 (Whoap, too bright!) LOL I am so sorry about the titles, but I just need to put something up there other than the name of the product and the shade. I mean, really. I HAVE TO. This is a cast-off title: Getting Cheeky with It. Get it? Will Smith? Ahem. So far, I’ve shown you the lipsticks and the lip crayon. I have only two more full-sized Addiction products to show you, and I got some samples of their tinted …

Going on a Midnight Drive for Fudge is Always A Good Idea: A Quick Look at Addiction Eyeshadows

All of the products I’ve tried from Addiction have been excellent, and these shadows are no exception. I got two very different shades. Midnight Drive was a surprise for me. I don’t know why I purchased it, or why I even swatched it. I do not really wear a lot of “bold” colors. Though this is technically a light color, it is still a bold one for me, in that it’s out of my comfort zone. Midnight Drive is a super-pale grey-toned seafoam green with a hint of a shimmer. It is not very “me,” but it felt “right” to get. If that makes sense. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. The next one I got was Fudge, which is a warm medium copper-y brown. Again, I saw this somewhere and wanted it. So I got it. The texture on this one is impeccable. It is silky-smooth and butter-y, and is extremely pigmented as well. Swatches, L-R: Addiction Fudge, Addiction Midnight Drive The texture of Fudge reminded me so much of the shu …
