One Week And God Created the Woman: 5 (More) Looks

I’ve had this palette for a while, but I’m still astounded by how many combinations I can get out of it, given that it only has six shades. I think that’s a true mark of value. Everyone knows there’s always that one pesky shade in a palette that you can’t seem to use. With NARS And God Created the Woman, all the shades are useful, even as multi-purpose products when you’re in a pinch. I use Belissima and Coconut Grove to mix when I need to make eyebrow touch-ups. DAY ONE Shades used: Alhambra, Belissima, and Galapagos After 7 hours of wear in the summer heat. BLAH! I may feel like shit, but my eyeshadow still looks gewd. I think so anyway. Lazy Girl Makeup: One-Shadow Smokey Eye

Launching (very late) today is a series I’m hoping to keep doing for a long time: Lazy Girl Makeup! It’s basically a post every two weeks in which I share with you my lazy ways. Here, for example, is a one-shadow smokey eye look. I did a similar look last year, which you can find here. The main difference with this look and the old one is that I used a kohl/creamy pencil first. Draw a messy, rich line near your lash line. Don’t worry if it’s not neat! Smudge dat liner. I used the e.l.f. Eyeshadow “C” Brush, which if I’m not mistaken, is really made for a smokey eye. Pat on your chosen shadow (here, Le Métier de Beauté’s Midnight Sky, which is a deep sapphire-navy) all over the lid, going over the crease a tiny, tiny bit. Again. Don’t worry if it’s not neat. Use a clean blending brush (here, the MAC 217) to blend all of the edges and haze the shadow out. Apply the same liner on the lower lash …

I’ve been extremely busy lately and my queue of posts ran out before I could write more posts (heh), so I hope you guys don’t mind a Face of the Day! I wore this to #YSProm, which is basically Young Star’s 18th Birthday! You can see (a bit) more pictures here. It looks simple—and it is!—but I did spend quite a bit of time making my base look nice~ I was so happy that I didn’t have to put SPF on my face because it was a night event. Thank tha lawddd. I only put up with SPF because I don’t want to burn under the sun. One Week Naked 3: 5 Day Looks

I decided to do the One Week Series with the newest Urban Decay Naked iteration, the Naked 3. I declared my love for this palette way before I even got my hands on it, because I’m stupid. And also, right! This is, by far, my favorite ‘Naked’. I always seem stumped when I try to make looks with it, gravitating to my favorite shades, but even if I feel a little clueless at first, the looks always turn out well. (In my opinion anyway. Ha.) The Naked 3 has rose-toned neutrals, making it the softest and most romantic palette of all the Naked offerings. There is also kind of a subtle contrast when it comes to the shades, so the transitions can be quite soft and really gradual between most of them. As an extra bit of “challenge,” I decided to make 5 looks using all of the different shades, so you can see the versatility of this palette. (Another) No Makeup Makeup Look: Bright Eyes

“No makeup” makeup has a strong presence in the beauty world, and the opinion on this is split into two factions: the people who appreciate and love it and the people who don’t see the point. Over the last few months, I’ve gotten several anonymous comments about how my makeup is being “wasted” and is useless because you can’t detect it on my face. (That’s a whole other story.) I’m personally a fan of the no makeup makeup look. There’s nothing wrong with enhancing your features and going for subtlety. Understated is good. Plus, there are actually people who can’t wear wild makeup looks to work. I am not one of those people, but I still dig these looks. Also, I don’t really feel comfortable with the thought of someone actually being able to see foundation, etc. on my face. Why on earth would you want that? I would not wish that upon the most annoying of the people I am annoyed at. I don’t really have evil foes.

I got a request for a graduation makeup look, so here’s an attempt. Just a disclaimer: I don’t think I wore a lick of makeup on my graduation day from uni, which was over four years ago. Here are some photos, to humor y’all. (I didn’t style my hair either. Lol. Basically I just didn’t care; I just wanted to get outta there!) And a swanget face with Marb, who I miss and haven’t seen since 2010. 😦 I did not show up for my high school graduation. (I watched She’s the Man in Glorietta instead.) So, you know, I don’t have a lot of experience under my belt, but here’s to trying! I’m going to put together a look that I feel like I would have worn that day if I gave a crap.

One Week NARSissist: 5 Looks

Reviving my “One Week Series,” which I have done only twice before, using the Urban Decay Naked and Urban Decay Naked 2 palettes. In case it isn’t obvious yet, I will use an eyeshadow palette for five days, and the looks that I come up with will be cataloged here. I used to post them on five different days, but I thought that for this round, I’ll just post the looks all in one spot. I’ve picked out the NARS NARSissist Eyeshadow Palette, which I’ve reviewed here. While I love it, part of me is also ambivalent towards it. Using it for five consecutive looks will allow me to form a more educated opinion about it, I guess. Shari has reviewed it a week ago and was not impressed. I think this is a perfect palette for the series, though, as majority of the shades in this palette are part of NARS’ permanent offerings.
