Brow Maintenance: Products

To cap off the first week of this month’s Special Eye Makeup Feature, I will tackle the issue of brows! This is a very small thing you can do that I feel will enhance your overall look. Honestly, I am pretty low maintenance when it comes to brows. I just kind of shade them in (as you would a blank spot in a coloring book) and call it a day. If you are looking for some how-tos, here are some posts that I’ve enjoyed from other, more capable bloggers: — Ae from An Artechoke — Xiao from Messy Wands — Tina from What Tina Loves — Liz from Project Vanity This is just an overview of the tools I use, in order of my preference. I don’t have a tutorial because I literally just brush through my normal eyebrow shape and comb through with a spoolie. I don’t typically outline the outsides, because I find that I look very harsh in the face, especially since I have been blessed with the Bitchy Resting Face. So …

Big in Japan: Drugstore Finds, Part IV

And we’ve come to the end of my Japanese Drugstore finds. Sorry this last part took a while. It’s mostly comprised of stuff I got my mom and sister. 🙂 Majolica Majorca Cream de Cheek in RD411 or Kiichigo/Raspberry Cream and RD310 or Coral Cream. These are liquid blushes I got my mama because she’d been eyeing them for a while. 🙂 They come in this packaging, which is like a frosted glass bottle that resembles a nail polish bottle, right down to the applicator: These seem really complicated to use, but they are honestly the easiest thing in the world. If you know how to apply the liquid highlighters, stains, and whatnot by Benefit, then you’d be a pro at this! First, you put a well-placed dot on your cheeks: This is a really pretty coral, and it’s called Coral Cream (RD310). This is the first and only one my mom has opened, so this is the only one you’ll see for now. 🙂 After placing the drop, blend it out quickly: And that’s …

Back from Japan: Some Photos + My Beauty Loot

Hello everyone, I’m back from my trip! It was, truthfully, too short a trip and I wish I could have stayed longer because Japan is a beautiful country. 🙂 We visited two cities—Osaka and Kyoto—which are about thirty minutes and ¥430 (or about $5) away from each other. This is Doutonbori Street (the English spelling varies), which is filled with food and large recreations of food that hang outside shop windows. On the left part of this picture, you can kind of see a row of gyoza (dumplings), and a large puffer fish that looks like a blimp. This is especially fun to walk around in at night because it’s so busy and alive. Also, Japanese food is one of the tastiest cuisines in the world! Lorita, a Taiwanese tourist on a solo trip, in a kimono, setting up her tripod to take photos with the sakura or cherry blossom tree. This is a nice one, in Kyoto, because the branches were low, so you can be surrounded by beautiful little blossoms. 🙂 This is …

TUTORIAL: Rose-Gold Eyes

Made another tutorial for this look! Used drugstore eyeshadow, so I’m sure it will be easier to recreate. If you like the video, please put a thumbs up. Let me know if you have any other requests for looks or videos because I quite like doing them, even if I look like I’m being forced at gunpoint to talk to y’all. 🙂 Products used: Snoe Beauty Let it B with WasaB (BB Cream) in Perfect Beige The Body Shop Brow and Liner Kit (02) L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette in Comfort Zone K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Liquid Eyeliner Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte & Waterproof Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Natural Beauty Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Lydia Hope this helps! FOTD: Gold-Aubergine Gradient & a Nude Lip

Hello everyone! I just thought I’d write about today’s look, just because I worked with mostly cream shadows today and that’s a first for me. 🙂 I also dug up one of my first and favorite lipsticks—MAC’s Jubilee. This is just a simple look I wore to lunch with my sister Isabel, and Sarie. My base consists of Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation in Cheers to Me Champagne and bareMinerals Mineral Veil. Part of me wishes I got the Mineral Veil with SPF, so I can go out without foundation but still look polished. Ah, well. For the eyes, I patted on MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque all over the lid. On the outer v and outer half of the crease, I applied Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Stiletto. To deepen said crease, I put on a little bit of Sexy from theBalm Nude ‘Tude Palette, and then I blended out any remaining harsh edges. I lined my eyes (pretty shoddily) with K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner and did my brows using The …

Faces of the Week: February 4-10, 2013

A catalog of looks for the past week. For my own reference, but I hope it may be of some use to someone out there. I decided to do this this week because it’s a rarity that I find myself out of the house—all 7 days of the week at that. I think it would be tons more interesting to see seven looks than a measly three or four. 🙂 MONDAY Meant to do some errands, which were thwarted because school offices were closed for President’s Day. Say hello to my unruly brows! Face: Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation (Cheers to me, Champagne), bareMinerals Mineral Veil, K-Palette Kuma 0 Cover Control Concealer (02 Yellow Beige) Eyes: Benefit Lemon Aid, bareMinerals READY 8.0 (The September Issue: Tres Chic for lid wash, Couture for outer corner, crease, & lower lashline, Gliteratti for middle of lid and inner corner), The Body Shop Brow and Liner Kit (02) Cheeks: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush (Natural Beauty) Lips: Chanel Rouge Allure (Captivante) TUESDAY Light, fuss-free makeup for a food …

December Favorites

I’ve got a few favorites from December! I don’t know how that happened since I was in the middle of a makeup ban… Funny how things happen. Ahem, in any case, here’s twelve products—two lip, five eye, 1 set of tools, 2 face products, and 3 skin care products. Phew. I hope you enjoy this roundup! 1. Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait in Orgueil (Review) I purchased this on the last day of November, and loved it from the get-go, but I wasn’t able to include it in my November Favorites. The Rouge G L’Extraits are incredibly smooth, creamy and pigmented. A little lasts a long while, which is great considering the price point. I’d gotten two more shades (sale!) after Orgueil, but this remains my favorite. 2. Revlon ColorStay Ultimate in Premier Plum (Review) An excellent drugstore find! Formula is great, though a bit tacky on the finish. The color is my favorite part, as it’s a beautiful medium pinky color that leans heavily towards plum. 3. Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes (Review) I …
