I know I don’t post a lot of drugstore products here; at least, in relation to higher end ones. Here are drugstore lip products that are great for everyday wear. There are seven, so there’s one for each week! I think they’re a great to transition from summer to fall. I’ll talk briefly about these lip products, from left to right.
Allow me to channel LSP here: “OH. MY. GLOB.” This may sound a little excessive, but holy crap. You have no idea how stubborn my lashes are. They look alright in person. If you were really, really, really, really close to my face. I mean, sure. But they do not hold a curl and no amount of mascara would make much of a difference, especially when my lashes go from “barely there” to “clumpy mess” in a matter of seconds. But this, my friends. This is a pretty great thing right here. The wand is similar to The Falsies, which is another Maybelline mascara that I like. It has a sort of curved shape, a design that is supposed to allow you to apply mascara easier since it “fits” your lashes’ natural shape. Are you ready for the results? LOOK AT THOSE LASHES! Oooh. I was going to put these Maybelline Color Whispers as an “overhyped product,” but I realized that I really liked them. I just felt guilty because these were the first non-CF items I got after I made my cruelty-free pledge. Though I didn’t commit to completely eliminated non-CF products, I still said I would try to minimize my consumption of animal tested products. So these felt like a failure. But they are good products, so I can’t, in good conscience, put them in the “overhyped products” post, out of guilt. Anyway, I got three colors: Mocha Muse, Lust for Blush, Petal Pusher. The one I really wanted but couldn’t get a hold of was Coral Ambition, I think. These were really hard to get photos of, because they were so glossy-shiny. L-R: Mocha Muse, Lust for Blush, Petal Pusher. They are also incredibly sheer and somewhat milky-looking. It’s a similar effect to some of the Korres Lip Butters, Jasmine in particular. I saved the “best” for last. Here’s my embarrassing lipstick collection. Do I need all of it? Probably not. I think I have a nice, round collection, however, and I don’t own too many dupes. I know this because I tried to make a dupe post for Lipstick Week and failed. Ahem. I keep most of my lipsticks inside a small MUJI bag that I’ve fitted with the plastic containers. I put this bag inside a drawer because I like to keep the top of my desk relatively clean. Honestly, this isn’t the most ideal situation, but it works. Other lip products like glosses and stuff are in a clear jar. Others like balms, lip butters, lip tars, etc. are in a small drawer on my desk. OK, so let’s talk about the lipstick. Hi everyone, I’m back today with Day 6 of Lipstick Week, even though I technically skipped Sunday. I’ll be taking a look at mauves and plums today, which is thuper duper exciting. Since as you all probably know, that’s probably my favorite color group. I like a lot of other colors, but this is my favorite collective. I’ll start with my favorite mauves. Mauve is a kind of dusty red violet. Kind of a warmer lavender, with a rosy undertone. That’s how I view mauves, anyway. It’s kind of hard to describe “complex” colors, just because colors seem to depend on people’s own personal views on them, if that makes sense. Le Métier de Beauté Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Bondi Beach. This is probably one of the best mauve shades I know. It doesn’t pull too violet/lavender on me, which I think makes it very wearable. The formula is amazing, too, though I guess I can’t really expect much else from Le Métier de Beauté, which is an amazing brand in general anyway. …
