February Favorites

YAY, I actually had this up on time! Also, on video, too. Ooooh, fancy. Anyway, here are some products that I’ve been loving the past month. February was the month of the ghosts of parcels past. Everything that I ordered on impulse in January came to Nickelback* me. So, I didn’t get to do try some of the products quite as extensively as I used these ones that I’ve picked out. Here are my February favorites! All are mentioned in the video, but I thought I would do a little bit of talking about each product some more in text and picture form~ 1. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (Collection Reviewed & Swatched) Holy cow, these blushes are amazing. I was on the fence about purchasing them, since they are a bit on the pricey side (Php 1,200 each, from the retailer I got) and the only way I could pick any up was if I ordered online, without seeing how the colors would look on me or how the texture was. I first got …

First Nature Republic Haul!

A few weeks ago, Patty alerted me to Nature Republic’s February markdown sale, so off I went! Nature Republic is a Korean brand, by the by. The name would suggest that. I asked for a list of recommendations and I just pretty much got what she told me to get (I am a sheep) because I was in a hurry. Here be my loot! Products in focus: Shine Blossom Rose Blusher (04 Lovely Rose), Aloe Vera 80% Cleansing Gel Cream, Sleeping Tonight Lavender Sleeping Pack. I will get into the blusher down below, but let me talk about the other two products in focus here. OK, so Patty advised me to get all of the items here, except for the Sleeping Pack, which I just got to make my purchase reach Php 1,000 for a free membership. I’ve tried the Aloe Vera 80% Cleansing Cream Gel when I got home to take off my makeup. It’s alright. It got rid of my eye makeup fairly well, but I should note that I wasn’t wearing anything …

Drugstore Haul: Skin Care & Eye Stuff

Sunday is drugstore day! That’s one of the few times I find myself in a mall, so I pounce at the opportunity to replenish my “necessities.” Well, these aren’t really necessities, but that’s the time I have to peruse the drugstore to find steals! I got these things from St. Ives: Moisturizing Olive Cleanser (Php 249.75), in hopes that I have found a cleanser that can take the place of shu uemura’s cleansing oil. I tried this today and it worked well enough but smelled yucky. In my opinion anyway. I can deal with it, because it’s an awesome makeup remover and my skin feels sufficiently moisturized! The Blemish Control Apricot Scrub (Php 197) came with this free sample size of the Oatmeal & Shea Butter Lotion. I was on the lookout for the green tea scrub, but all we had are several variants of the apricot. I used this last night, though and my skin felt so good! I want to use the scrub again tonight, but my sister said you should only do …

Vlog: Skin Care Routine

Hey everyone! So, here’s the video~ on my “skin care routine” that some people have been asking about. There aren’t too many steps (clean, tone, sometimes moisturize), but I just like using a variety of products, for some reason. My face isn’t so sensitive to cleansers. I just have bad luck with foundations and tinted moisturizers, I think. I’m not one for skin care. I’ve always felt like a bit of soap and water is all you needed. It goes to show you how much I know. (It has recently come to light that my sister was deeply grossed out about my lack of facial hygiene.) Anyway, onto the moving picture that is my face! (My channel was made when I was but a child. Sorry for the atrocious name!) 1. Pond’s Daily Face Wash Standard face-cleaner. I’ve been using the “light green” variety ever since late grade school (that’s Junior High to you Americans) and I just never switched to any other variant. I like it mostly because of the scent. There is a …

December Favorites

I’ve got a few favorites from December! I don’t know how that happened since I was in the middle of a makeup ban… Funny how things happen. Ahem, in any case, here’s twelve products—two lip, five eye, 1 set of tools, 2 face products, and 3 skin care products. Phew. I hope you enjoy this roundup! 1. Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait in Orgueil (Review) I purchased this on the last day of November, and loved it from the get-go, but I wasn’t able to include it in my November Favorites. The Rouge G L’Extraits are incredibly smooth, creamy and pigmented. A little lasts a long while, which is great considering the price point. I’d gotten two more shades (sale!) after Orgueil, but this remains my favorite. 2. Revlon ColorStay Ultimate in Premier Plum (Review) An excellent drugstore find! Formula is great, though a bit tacky on the finish. The color is my favorite part, as it’s a beautiful medium pinky color that leans heavily towards plum. 3. Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes (Review) I …

Tips & Tricks: Zap That Zit with Tea Tree Oil!

I grew up pretty zit-free, so whenever I got the occasional pimple, I just had to wait it out for a bit and it would disappear. As I got older, my face got oilier, and the zits now came in twos and threes. This year, I found the magic solution—a natural spot treatment that was just under my nose all these years! Presenting—The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil! Sarie said this got rid of pimples, and I’ve tried it on the first blemish sightings and away they go. Bigger, pus-filled (sorry) pimples are harder to get rid of with this, but it helps dry those out, too. I’ve noticed it’s best used on the beginnings of a pimple and blemishes. Tea tree oil is a byproduct of the distillation of Melaleuca alternifolia leaves, a plant native to Australia. It has had a long aboriginal history of healing wounds and cuts. There are various other uses for tea tree oil, including getting rid of athlete’s foot. Here is a list I got from Care2, on the …

Sample Stash Sunday: Laneige Multi Cleanser & Lip and Eye Remover

Sample Stash Sunday is a day in which samples will be given center stage. I always have a bunch of samples that I end up using only once or twice, a waste much to the earth’s dismay. This is an attempt to actually use the products, review them, and maybe discover something great. This week, I’ll be talking about the Multi Cleanser and the Lip and Eye Remover by Laneige. Sarie got 4 samples from a Laneige event, and I’ve so far tried 2 of the 4. Laneige is a Korean brand with a French name (“neige” is “snow”). The Laneige Multi Cleanser is “papain enzymes-based multi cleanser with 4 functions of removing makeup, removing sunscreen, exfoliating, and cleansing.” It offers a mild & thorough cleansing and claims to provide clear and bright skin after everyday use. It’s also suited for all skin types. I normally use Shu Uemura’s cleansing oil, but I stopped using it for about four days for this review. The Laneige Multi Cleanser is opaque with a cream-like consistency and exfoliator …
