October Favorites

I often add a space in my calendar to put in a “monthly favorites,” though I don’t always have “enough” products to show that would warrant an entire post. This is especially true for the month of October, most of which I spent in a different country. I do have a couple of skin favorites and mainstays that are similar to that of the last favorites post I did, but I hope you guys don’t mind if I also share some recent finds that I have been loving lately. One Love Organics Brand New Day Scrub & Masque This powder is to be mixed with water (to act as a scrub) or Greek yogurt/honey (to use as a mask). When I remember to use this—just about twice a week—my skin feels so refreshed and clean after. This will definitely be a mainstay in my routine. I just wish it were a bit easier for me to get. La Roche-Posay Redermic R and Redermic R Eyes This range is an anti-aging treatment that contains retinol, which …

Welcome to Wes Anderson Week

I’ve been toying around with this idea for a while, but I just couldn’t push through with it for some reason… Until I finally decided to just do it. I think I had a hard time thinking of features that would actually work—there were a lot of potentially fun ones—but sometimes, there are things that you think about too much that you end up not doing them. And I didn’t want that to be the case for this particular series, so here we are. Wes Anderson. I’m sure you all know him by now, or at least, the movies he’s made. Half the population went as Sam and Suzy from Moonrise Kingdom for Halloween not so long ago, after all. But for the uninitiated, Wes Anderson is an American director, and he made my favorite movie, Rushmore. He has a very strong sense of aesthetics and I just think that his work is such a fun thing to kind of merge with makeup, just because it is already so visually strong and distinct. For Wes …

Nosy Beauty Vol. 38: Liz

For today’s Nosy Beauty, I managed to get someone I admire very much from the beauty blogging community to agree to be a part of this series (38th post, can you believe it?!)—Liz Lanuzo from Project Vanity! Project Vanity is one of the biggest beauty blogs in the Philippines, and I quite luckily managed to befriend Liz over the last few years. 🙂 Aren’t you excited that we’re about to pick her brain about beauty?

September Favorites

And it’s time for another round of beauty and skin care favorites! I usually am at a loss when I write this feature (30 days is a long time for the mind to rewind back to, it seems…) but since I’ve been on the road for most of September, it was easy to find things in my small-ish stash that I enjoyed immensely. Here are some of them: One Love Organics Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm — this is a makeup remover, cleanser, and moisturizer all in one. It is AMAZING and helped my skin out a lot in NYC where it was breaking out a lot. My sister’s been enjoying using it, too! Indie Lee Squalene Oil — I bought this at Space.NK and wanted to try an olive-based squalene facial oil, because it’s known to be great for the skin. I can attest to these claims. This oil is fantastic and I usually use it on my skin during the day, before I put on my sunscreen/moisturizer. MAKE Colour Soft Focus Foundation — …

Favorite NARS Bits

While I’m miles away on vacation, allow me to share with you a few of my favorite bits from NARS. I think you can tell that NARS is one of my favorite beauty brands. If I could pick just one brand to use for the rest of my life, I can pick NARS and not even feel bad about it. Anyway, like most established brands, NARS is a bit intimidating to approach if you’re a new buyer. Here are a few of my favorite items from them, not including skin care or brushes. Mostly because I forgot, lol, but I quite like them, too. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer — I’ve never loved a concealer as much as I love this one. I have it in the shade Ginger, but Custard works well for me. It is easy to blend, packs on a lot of pigment, and doesn’t look cakey. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation — One of my favorite liquid foundations! It’s a medium coverage foundation with a slightly dewy finish and a great range of …

Nosy Beauty Vol. 37: Rae

For today’s Nosy Beauty, I’ve got Rae from Scatterbraintures! She is one of the most discerning and critical beauty reviewers, in my opinion. She’s more specific and particular than I am, for sure. • From my teens to my twenties, I’ve always only been just a skin care girl. I started using ‘real’ makeup since 2+ years ago (i.e., when I worked for Watsons). I wasn’t in marketing or sales. I worked behind the scenes, inside a cubicle. I already left the company, but I took my new found love for makeup along with me. I started using makeup because it was kind of required. Now, I think I’m starting to enjoy the whole makeup application process where I’m forced to focus and be mindful. I think it’s even better than yoga in the sense that I don’t hurry to get to the next step.

Nosy Beauty Vol. 36: Gabbie

Today’s Nosy Beauty features someone who writes pieces that I always look forward to reading. Say hi to Gabbie! 🙂 My name is Gabbie, and I’m a reforming beauty addict. Professionally, I do a lot of things for a lot of people, but I mostly write and I have a recipe-sharing space on the interwebs called The Martha Diaries.
