Happy Skin Summer Picks: Peppermint & The Morning After

Here are two of the makeup things that I just couldn’t resist from Happy Skin’s summer collection. I did manage to curb my cravings for a while (I saw these a few weeks ago) but I caved after a whole month of no new makeup purchases. These are really great purchases, though, and I honestly really held back!

5 Things Friday: Japanese Drugstore Finds

Today’s 5 Things Friday (which I hope I will follow through on forever and ever) features some finds from a handful of Japanese drugstores on my last trip to Tokyo/Osaka. If you have never shopped around a Japanese drugstore, you have never known real joy. (Just kidding.) I think you can tell that I really held back this time around. These are actually pretty practical finds, except for the lipstick… so I’m pretty proud of myself. Heh. I actually have six things here, but let me explain. I picked up the MUJI Nail Polish Remover, which are basically just packets of sheets doused in nail polish remover. My polish was driving me nuts, so I was happy I saw these at a Family Mart! I think they might be acetone-free; the formula was definitely more oily than alcohol-y. Next up is the Suncut Water in UV Protect Essence, which is just facial sunscreen. They have an abundance of these. I just picked one up with a high SPF. I got a 2 for 1 deal …

Stylenanda 3CE Under Eye Flash in #6 African Sunset*

I’m not going to lie—getting 3CE products in these boxes is always my favorite part! 3CE or 3 Concept Eyes is a cosmetics brand by Korean fashion line, Stylenanda. I first heard about them from Wiji, who posted about them nearly a year ago. There’s something really attractive about their branding and identity, and I think it comes across in their campaigns and their products. The 3CE Under Eye Flash* is a liner designed to “brighten and add depth to your eyes.” It is long-lasting, and can be used for definition and sparkling complexity. “EYE FLASH EFFECT”: The name “eye-flash” given to this under-eye makeup is most proper for its soft colors. Retain and brighten up the eyes and adds depth to the eyes for a gorgeous appearance. “LONG-LASTING WATERPROOF EYE LINER”: This water-proof liner is built to last on both moist and oily lids maintaining a smudge-free, clean, neat look all day long. “RICHNESS AND DEPTH OF COLOR”: Maintain a sensual color without having to reapply the makeup due to excellent color fixing ability. …

Stylenanda 3CE Gel Eyeliner in #L.O.V.E.*

I saved the best for last! Which is weird because I never thought I’d be so smitten with a red gel eyeliner, but here we are. Anyway, the product in question is the 3CE Gel Eyeliner in #L.O.V.E.. 3CE or 3 Concept Eyes is the makeup arm of Korean fashion brand, Stylenanda. I’ve had the pleasure of trying out 4 items from this awesome, mid-range brand so far, and I’m in love with all of them! This gel liner is super creamy and is pretty much a dream to work with since the color glides on so smoothly on your lids and is so opaque in just one swipe. The pot of product, which is housed in frosted glass, comes with a super nifty liner brush (flat and somewhat tapered) which is what I used to apply it. You can use it to apply broad strokes or thinner ones, depending on which side you use. As you can see from these swatches, the product is ultra creamy and is super pigmented. All of these swatches …

EOTD: Gradient Eyeliner

An eye experiment—gradient eyeliner! Or ombre, if you prefer that term. It’s super easy, which will probably make this the shortest post ever on this blog. I started in the inner corner with a dark green shade (Urban Decay Mars) and stopped a third of the way in. Then, I used a bright ocean blue shade (Urban Decay Deep End) on the middle third of the lower lash line. Finally, I connect the line to a beautiful blue-violet shade (Urban Decay Ultraviolet), filling in the last third of the lash line. And that’s that! Eye makeup: Le Métier de Beauté Dualistic Eye Pencil in Tamarack as base, bareMinerals READY 2.0 in The Scenic Route, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Perversion, Benefit They’re Real! mascara Rest of the face makeup: BECCA Resurfacing Primer, Burberry Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation in Trench No. 4, NYX Eyeliner in Taupe, MAC Extra Dimension Blush in Fiery Impact, NYX Round Lipstick in Peony. I hope this post was helpful! Have you tried gradient eyeliner before? 🙂

Drugstore Finds: Maybelline Master Liner & Baby Lips ♥ Color*

Two quick reviews on two items I received in my October BDJ Box*. I don’t really have much to say about either of them, so I thought I’d lump them together in one post. 🙂 First up, I have the Maybelline Master Liner in BK-1. It’s a standard, retractable black eyeliner that promises to be smudgeproof and creamy. I would actually argue with that assessment, because it was not creamy at all. It’s kind of hard to apply a hard pencil on delicate parts of your eye that are so close to the opening and the eyeball itself. I don’t want to have to apply too much pressure to achieve maximum pigmentation. Unfortunately, I found that to be the case here. In these swatches, the upper, darker one was achieved by a lot of pressure—too much pressure for upper/lower lid application. The lower swatch is indicative of the amount of pay-off I got when I applied the amount of pressure I would if I were to line my upper lashline. It’s not entirely bad—as you …
