REVIEW: Migabee Honey Pureberry Oilsoap*

One of the products I was most excited to have received was the Migabee Honey Pureberry Oilsoap.* It removes makeup, dirt, and oily ingredients, and can be used on the face, hair, and body. This product reminds me of castile soap like Dr. Bronner’s, which is used for several uses and is made of olive oil, because it is also multipurpose. Since most of the writing on the bottle and site itself is in Korean (or Hangul), I went to a lot of websites for more information that I could understand. This “oilsoap” has lauric acid as the second ingredient, which is found in coconut oil, laurel oil, and in palm kernel oil (not palm oil). I’ve been using organic honey as a light cleanser for the face in the morning, so I’m pleased I got this variant because I know that it works for my skin type. It also contains cranberry, blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry fruit extracts.

Hallelujah! The Leaders AC-Free Spot Patch* Came at the Right Time

I’ve been breaking out lately and I know it’s because I sleep so late. Aside from germs and food intake, emotional stress and fatigue can cause your skin to break out into cystic horrors. My worst ones always happen around my nose area. I literally have nothing to blame except my 4a.m. bedtime, and I have been looking for a more advanced treatment for my breakouts, instead of my usual tea tree oil fare. Inside the BNT Box is the Leaders AC-Free Spot Patch*, which are spot treatment stickers that contain salicylic acid and tea tree oil to target blemishes. Inside the pack are 50 individual patches in two different sizes, divided into 5 foil packets with 10 patches a sheet. You need to leave the patch on the affected area for 8-12 hours after cleansing. This is great to keep treatment on the skin while sleeping or working. The patches are transparent, so it’s not very conspicuous.

REVIEW: Faith in Face Truly Waterly Cleansing Water*

After a long wrestle with the customs office (AGH), I finally got my BNT Girls box! So in addition to Harry Potter week, I’ll be reviewing quite a bit of products from Korea this week. I hope you guys don’t mind. 🙂 The Faith in Face Truly Waterly Cleansing Water* is a 2-in-1 product that acts as both a makeup remover and toner. The main ingredient is the Saponaria Officinalis Leaf Extract, which is a natural cleansing agent. From the looks of it, it’s similar to the micellar water products that have boomed in the beauty market place lately. I’m not a big fan of those myself, having only tried the Bioderma Sensibio H2O, which is pretty much the cult favorite of everyone on earth. I find that micellar water doesn’t really take off much of my makeup—especially not the eye makeup—and they also sting my eyes. I was keen on finding out if my experience with the Faith in Face Truly Waterly Cleansing Water would be similar to that of my Bioderma one.

Mask Appeal: A Selection of Sheet Masks from Leaders InSolution*

I am a sheet mask nut. I love them so much. But of course, not all sheet masks were created equally. My favorites so far are the ones by The Beauty Buffet (available at Watson’s, sometimes on sale!) and Dermal (a bit pricier, but so good). I was really excited to see sheet masks in my BNTGirls Box this month. Leaders InSolution Sheet Masks* are known to be some of the best on the market. From the masks I received, two were “Premium Care,” these first two aren’t part of that range and come in a narrower packet. The first one I tried was the Collagen Lifting Skin Renewal Mask. It’s for skin firming and skin elasticity; this mask “helps recover younger-looking skin with revitalizing skin by supplying plenty of moisture.” This is what the mask looks like: And what the mask looks like on the face:

Helen Park Jalousian Anti-Wrinkle Cream*

The Helen Park Jalousian Anti-Wrinkle Cream* is a (seemingly) widely popular anti-wrinkle cream in Korea. I say ‘seemingly’ because all of the rave reviews that I can understand/is in English are from websites that are shilling this product. The active ingredient is Adesonine, which is “effective for wrinkle care.” Their claims for wrinkle freedom are kind of extreme, and it’s a shame that I don’t have much to show you whether or not it works to that level. Here’s some of the information I found at a Qoo10 listing for this product: I won’t even pretend I can understand that enough to attest to its effectivity. I can, however, show you how it’s worked out for me! Now, the company claims that the cream a) gives you “baby skin,” b) makes makeup stick well to the skin (“as it contains 2 types of oil”), c) keep the skin moist for a long time, and d) CAUSE JEALOUSY. Because your skin is so resilient. I suspect this is where the term “Jalousian” comes from, correct me …

My Beauty Diary Egg White Gommage Peeling Facial Wash Off Mask*

I’m not the biggest fan of girly, frilly packaging, so I wasn’t really expecting much from My Beauty Diary Egg White Gommage Peeling Facial Wash Off Mask* when I received it in this month’s BNT Box. Aside from the Easter-esque packaging, the name threw me off at first. What exactly does “peeling” + “wash off” mask mean? I turned to “gommage,” which turns out is a type of facial peel that was popular before the advent of all the alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) treatments. Gommage comes from the French term, “to erase,” and gommage facials involve a paste or cream (a gommage!) to be applied lightly on the face. After it drying slightly, the layer is scrubbed off, resulting in light exfoliation. In theory, gommage doesn’t need to be washed off… so you understand my confusion. This is a great exfoliation method for sensitive skin types, however, since it’s chemical-free unlike AHA peels. Apparently, G.NA, a Canadian singer based in South Korea uses this as part of her skin care routine, which you can read …
