Quickie: Le Métier de Beauté Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Bondi Beach

I’ve had this lipstick for a while now—it’s been in my drafts since January 26—but I haven’t gotten around to writing a proper review, I think because of the pictures. The original pictures I had taken made the lipstick look so red and so vampy, I don’t even know what I did to get that sort of dramatic color shift. Anyway, now that I’ve got a proper picture, let’s talk lipstick! This is the Le Métier de Beauté Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Bondi Beach. In shorthand, I refer to it as the LMdB Lipstick because there are just too many words. It is a mauve-y rose color with a creamy-smooth texture and consistency and a sort of pleasing quality to it that makes it very agreeable to most people and especially agreeable to me, lover of purples and plums and mauves. I was looking for one shade in the lipstick range to try (because these are expensive at $34 each, yo) and Bondi Beach one called to me the most. Naturally. The color …

MAC Archie’s Girls Review & Swatches: Boyfriend Stealer & Veronica’s Blush

I have here two items from one of the latest MAC Collection, Archie’s Girls. Though I pretty much wanted to get everything, I controlled myself and reassessed my life choices made the executive decision to just get only a few items. Which is a pretty great feat for me, because let’s face it—if there’s any sort of Beauty Bandwagon, I’d probably jump on it. Technically, I only have one item (a pearlmatte powder), since I got the Ronnie lipstick for my sister, who loves dark plummy shades. I do have my eye on a Betty lipstick (Betty Bright), but I can’t seem to get a hold of it. I’m not sure if these are officially out on MAC counters now, but it should be any day now, as the press launch coincidentally happened yesterday. OKAY, up first is the lipstick. We have Boyfriend Stealer, which is the darkest of the six shades that came out. It’s a cremesheen lipstick, which is basically a MAC range that is “ultra sheer and uber moist, it features flat …

Quickie: Put on a Fancy Face with Tom Ford’s Lipstick in Flamingo

Every once in a while, I like to splurge on a single piece of makeup that I’ve been lemming, through reading blogs and watching videos. This particular case was special because I wanted both a blush and a lipstick by Tom Ford. I’ve heard so much about how good they are but can’t try them from where I am because Manila sucks. (Jk, Manila, I love you. Most of the time.) Anyway, I found a seller called Make Up Pro. They have two branches and also take online orders, in case you were wondering. The shade I picked for the lipstick is Flamingo, which has been a pretty celebrated color. It’s a weird combination of muted but bright and wearable pink. It reminds me of the darkest pink on a flamingo’s feathers. I read someone’s blog and she said it was the perfect bright lipstick because it was so easy to wear. Since I am such a sheep sometimes, I got it, swiped it on and loved it. (!) Which is a good thing because …

Drugstore Finds: Small Sunday Haul

Sunday is my drugstore day because my family and I stop by a mall near our church after lunch. Here’s three items I picked up, from L-R: Flormar Supermatte Lipstick in 209, Etude House Apricot Stick in 3 (Apple), Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon Trio in Walking on Eggshells. Hand swatches from the two lip products. Left: Etude House Apricot Stick, Right: Flormar Supermatte Lipstick in 209. The two thin lines were leftover swatches from my drugstore trip. I wanted the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, but they are too expensive here (Php 575 or about $15). The Etude House Apricot Sticks are just Php 198 each and a good buy if you want to try out a similar higher end/more expensive product. It gives good moisture, but it’s not sustained. The shade I got, 3 or Apple, is a light coral pink. It smells and tastes like apple! I like it a lot and will probably get more shades. 🙂 The Flormar Supermatte lipstick (Php 399) “[has a] velvety structure that gives the …

Pretty in Pink: Le Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick Compact in Gemma

Once upon a time, I splurged and bought three lip products from Guerlain in one fell swoop. Rustan’s was on a one-day only 30% off sale and I knew I had to just jump at the chance. And so I came home with a Le Rouge G de Guerlain, a Terracotta gloss, and a Rouge G L’Extrait, which I reviewed here. After testing all of these products out, my only regret is that I didn’t grab more stuff. I know that sounds excessive, but these are mighty expensive (due to a price markup) and getting them on sale is a wondrous thing. The Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick Compact is: A jewel lipstick compact with a white-gold shimmer designed by Lorenz Bäumer, the young and talented jeweler in Place Vendôme. A horizontal design with feminine curves that houses a secret: a mirror automatically appears when the compact is opened. The lipstick has a purely elegant, contemporary design and closes magnetically. This exceptional object boasts a comprehensive, premium formula containing a star ingredient: ruby powder, …

Snoe Beauty: Rouge Deluxe Complete Lip Care in Plum Crazy

I must confess: all these beauty bloggers raving about Snoe Beauty’s Rouge Deluxe lippies and foundation has gotten me very curious about the brand. After a bit of internet sleuthing, I found out that it was a local brand (!) and that got me even more curious. Right after my makeup ban was lifted, I went online and bought some products from their online store. I got my loot after one working day! Because I didn’t want to go overboard, as I am wont to do, I picked two cosmetic products, namely a Rouge Deluxe in Plum Crazy, and the Poudre Phenomenon, which is a “pore erasing HD powder.” For now, let me talk about the Rouge Deluxe! Snoe’s Rouge Deluxe is: an oil-infused rich and creamy lip color in the season’s hottest hues. It will hydrate, nourish, and revitalize lips. While delivering long-lasting color, this product works to smoothen and soften the lips, making your pout extra kissable. edited to only the most fashionable shades, it’s impossible to pick one. Without: parabens, sulfates, synthetic …

I spy Spring 2013: MAC Viva Glam Nicki

(source) We need to talk about Nicki. Spring 2013 will see her second MAC Viva Glam shade, the Viva Glam Nicki 2, which is a “pastel lavender pink.” It comes with a lipglass in the same color family, which you can see below. The first Nicki Minaj shade was described as a “bright yellow pink,” aka a shade I would not wear, though I imagine it could be really pretty on other people. The truth is that when it comes to lips, I am less adventurous. It is only recently that I have been trying out some of the more darker shades. At some point, my sister asked me why all of my lipstick looked the same. And I realized that while they all had their little differences from each other, they all looked fairly similar on my lips. Now my point is, I have never tried lavender lips. To be honest, my adventures in lip color tend to lean towards the darker shades—plums, reds, even a sheer grape—but never light lipstick. Even my go-to …
